Hmm. Im definitely getting 18100 for my imaginary preserved railway but presumably E1000/2001 had to be towed to the wires somehow? i may just throw an 8F and a couple of brake vans at the problem

so what im getting here is that its not really on as a loco in the crewe area then? at least not if I plan to be accurate to real life

Yes, I had the impression that it was never a service loco, I just didn’t actually know what it did and didn’t do beyond that

Afternoon all, With the announcement of the Rails/Heljan class 80 loco (better known as the converted Gas Turbine 18100), I was wondering if anyone had any information on the service that this loco performed on the west coast main line during its tenure there, both as E1000 and E2001. One of the many layouts I have planned in my head is one based upon carnforth and I was wondering if it could be seen in the area and what trains it was pulling. I know that pictures of it are fairly rare but if anyone has a snap or two in service I’d appreciate that too

Just ordered mine - was going to wait for the price to drop a bit as per the manning waddle locos but there doesn’t seem to be much stock kicking about and I didn’t want to lose it. so, £204 spent. Eep

I think the narrow gauge modeller is drawn towards the quirky nature of virtually every prototype out there - it’s only a small step to want to create your own version of the quirk. combine that with the requirements for kit building/bashing that were ubiquitous in narrow gauge modelling until recently (and still are around if you don’t want to model trench railways, the ALR or the L&B in 009 or continental outline Germanic stuff) and you’ve got a recipe where it is actually sometimes just as easy or easier to make your own railway as it is to model a real one. In standard gauge stuff, it’s actually a lot harder to paint Mallard yellow and claim that it was from the Far Tottering and Oysterperch Railway. But a dark blue ‘Russell’ is just another Hunslet 2ft loco

Agreed - send them whatever proof of purchase you have and that should sort it. They are reasonable folks and from from your initial post it seems that they agree that the problem could be on their end as well. They are actually much better at customer service than most - give them a chance to resolve
