  1. Well, it arrived - and I am rather happy with the contents - GER Liveried W&U tramway train pack - Ltd edition ‘iron mink’ wagon - ‘Toad’ brake van - ‘loriot’ flat wagon - 2x SR Eight plank wagons (different numbers - LMS diagram 1666 wagon Also got beer mats, pens and a pinbadge, an APT-E book and a 2024 calendar. @RapidoCorbs - am I allowed to buy another one? :)
  2. Just had a notification from the Royal Mail that my mystery box has been delivered. Mus have been dispatched immediately after I ordered it - I shall have a good rummage tonight
  3. Quick question @RapidoCorbs - any idea when we might be seeing these? I’ll admit that my curiosity is getting the better of me 😂
  4. To be honest the majority of mystery boxes that I know of from other providers are actually made up of the same things for each customer and is frequently down to free up warehouse space for new items. If (and I emphasise if because I don’t actually know) this is a similar exercise on the part of Rapido then it probably wouldn’t be possible to separate them out like this.
  5. I’ve gone for the £250 one myself - I’ve always liked those Rapido mink vans, and if this is the only way to get one then so be it! Seriously, I’ve always been a big fan of mystery boxes and I’m looking forward to seeing what is inside of this one.
  6. Personal hopes - new run of Quarry hunslets - the second hand prices are now getting silly - updated 4MT tank loco - corris locomotives. One of the few items when you can have the same narrow gauge locos representing two different railways. -corris coaches and wagons
  7. I have contacted kernow directly about this and it’s been solved. I only have an extremely small loop of track and have to run the locos very slowly to avoid them flying off :) it appears that the juice I was giving the models wasn’t enough to illuminate the interior lights. I have briefly tested at higher speeds and voltages and all works. as for the bluetooth sound decoder installation, all went very well and the on board speaker works a treat. I can turn the directional lamps on and off, but the interior lights being controlled by function 6 won’t work with the Hornby decoder. Not a fault, but a limitation of using an nxt18 decoder, plux 12 adapter in a plux 22 socket and controlling with a Bluetooth interface not designed for anything except the decoder :) aab038db-9d3a-48c6-be45-af7e9c53a17b.mp4
  8. Has anyone been having trouble getting their interior lights to go on during analogue running? None of mine light up - the lamps work fine, but nothing else
  9. Happy to report that all three of my railmotors run very well - one has been Hornby bluetoothed and is running in properly now. Can’t say that it was the easiest model to get in to, but all sorted now. However, I do have a question for you all on here - the instructions say that the interior and trailing cab lights will light up on analogue and are controlled by function 6 on DCC. None of mine do this on analogue. Now, I’m willing to believe that the Hornby decoder needs a bit of messing about with to make the lights work, but the other two (which are remaining analogue) worry me a bit. Can anyone illuminate me on this? It just seems odd that it is all three of them
  10. Pleased to report that all three of the Railmotors arrived safe and sound. I shall test run them later tonight and report back. Can’t run them at the moment becuase they’re both freezing cold and I’m technically still in the office :)
  11. Just been emailed by a courier to say that my three examples should be arriving today. Exciting
  12. They do not. I have found a plux12 to nxt18 adapter, and I’ll be using that. Should give me lights, sound and Bluetooth control.
  13. Good to see that there is plenty of space inside - I’m being heretics with my own sound installation and going Hornby hm7000, so it is good to see that there are possibilities for concealing such a space hungry approach
  14. I had something similar to this when I chipped my Flying Scotsman (modern tooling A3 - the NE Black version) - in my case I cured it by attaching the Hornby stay alive.
  15. Yes, regrettably Formula e live is now behind a paywall as the live races are only on TNT Sports in the UK. Ive swapped over to EE as my mobile phone provider, which has come with a membership to TNT sports included, so it’s functionally free for me. Just in case anyone else might make use of that info
  16. Not been a good week int eh model railway world has it? Ive been to warley every year for at least the last fifteen years, so it’s a damn shame
  17. The current Q&A says that they are considering the P class and will update when there is news. As the news of the closure is now only in its fourth day, I think we might need to wait a bit
  18. Already pre-ordered few things from Kernow - Mayflower, L1, W1 and an LMR mail coach. But i do think that the video itself was just awful - mispronounced names, jump cuts halfway through words, a nice long interview with lots of inaudible muttering breaking everything up and the host saying that he'd buy one of the engines becuase he would titter at the word 'Dick' being in the name. A big step down on the quality of their previous presentations in my opinion
  19. A sad day when such a name goes from the sector. on a self serving note, I hope that they decide that they can proceed with the P class - I have a ‘bluebell’ on order and if prefer to give the money directly to Hattons rather than three or four times as much to someone from eBay
  20. From what I can see from contemporary photos, there was little restraint for loose coal falling off the top of the engine, so maybe it was an attempt to simply retain the coal in the chute whilst on the road? Or alternatively, a problem that wouldn’t exist on most locos would be rainwater pouring down the coal chute to the inside of the loco without a tender gap to drain it, so maybe the tarp was to shed the water over the side. just a thought. Got no evidence from anything approaching a primary source that either of those things was true :)
  21. It’s a shame about Omaha as I making the journey specifically to see it, but wishing it was working won’t make it go I suppose. ah well, I’ll live :)
  22. Hi all, I find myself in need of some of the mid-Sodor railway transfers previously available from the railway mania store. Unfortunately that appears to be on a hiatus at the moment (and judging by the ‘back in the autumn’ statement still being there on December 12th it doesn’t look good for its return), so I was wondering if anyone knew where else I could source these? I believe they were designed by someone named Luke Ryan, but I have exactly no idea of who that is or how I might go about asking if there are any available. Its a big shame about the continued closure, as I wanted to peruse the sustain decal range a bit more to maybe use some of the standard gauge stuff as well. Anyway i basically need the lot from the Mid-Sodor collection - Wagons, carriages and crests. I’m very short of them all at the moment and I’d like to use the right things for the job. Thanks in advance, Edge
  23. I think that the announcement was that Hornby would be making announcements every few months (in the same kind of way the Bachmann now does) beginning with an announcement in January
  24. This looks like the same model that Jenny a Kirk had on her YouTube channel. If so, it’s an EP that has been about for a few months and has been revised.
