  1. Some electric services are running. I have seen them passing the Slough webcam on recent days. Sorry, I have added my reply to the wrong post; it should have been 3336.
  2. Well, it would seem as though everything went well with at least one brood of blue tits, as early this morning there were five juveniles, that I could see, stumbling around the bushes near the feeders, with a dilapidated adult trying to keep them all fed.
  3. The rain continues today, and the blue tits are still plugging away; their dedication to the survival of their brood is amazing. A couple of great tits have started the marathon effort. I have seen the robins, but no sign of the coal tits. The rain has eased, so fingers crossed.
  4. Deleted my comment which was somewhat alcohol-fuelled.
  5. I am praying for the survival of broods of blue tits, coal tits and robins here. The parents have been tempted to nest slightly early due to the dry/sunny weather but as soon as the babies hatched it has been incessant rain, therefore no live food. The parents of all three species have been visiting my feeders almost constantly in the rain and look totally bedraggled.
  6. Yes Phil, quite a lot seemed to get BR arrows at the same time as GFYE. A few of the first batch of locos that I have photos of in my collection - although many not taken by me so uncertain copyright - are, EDITED to add later members of the class.... D5518, D5520; then D5523, D5610, D5617, D5624, D5630, D5643, D5694, which had small arrows; D5557 and D5561 which had 4 arrows one under each cab window; D5600, D5618, D5623, D5647, D5663, D5668, D5685, D5692, D5693, D5801, D5803, D5810, D5812, D5813, D5814, D5817, D5818, D5819, D5822, D5823, D5824 D5826, D5827, D5828, D5829, D5843, I can't remember any GSYP examples with BR symbols, but there may well be some.
  7. Excellent fritillary photos Chaz. I haven't seen a Grayling in years; they used to be common near the coast, but much less so now. Similarly, I rarely see a Wall Brown these days and they were a regular sight 30 years ago when we moved here. I have just seen my first Red Admiral in the back garden, but for a bizarre 60 seconds or so it was being chased round in circles by a blue tit.
  8. I don't know the location Phil. The slide was one of a box-full which I purchased several years ago. The slide mount date is Apr 1977. That hill in the background looks very familiar, and I feel as if I should know where it is. The number of tracks makes me think it is north Notts/Derbyshire. I wondered if the tankers were going for scrap, rather than being in service, but I can't see any COND markings, and a scrap vehicles train may have required a brake van.
  9. Good idea, although the Peak photo is not a very good one due low sun angle. I had better dream up a less difficult subject - how about any now preserved diesel working for BR in the years prior to preservation.
  10. That is brilliant, Phil. I have only 2 of d/e haulage, one is a 47 and the other a Peak.
  11. How about the next photo being a milk train... but not hauled by a steam loco, or a diesel hydraulic.
  12. Yes, and some of that 'pollution' could be very fine dust/sand suspended in the air.
  13. Not necessarily. If that was my car, I would need that much space in order to open my drivers' door properly and get out of the car.
  14. J1429... 8M74 was the 0815 SO Hull to Colwick due Aslockton at 2pm, so would fit the sun angle; and the coal wagons would be empties.
  15. The 737, 4th photo in that group; do you know the airline, because I have one from Cardiff, but with added yellow. RAF St Athan was just down the road. They gave us complimentary entrance tickets, so I took these around 83/84.
  16. I think we have already had that subject, as I remember posting a photo at Wood Green.
  17. I loved SUBs/EPBs; mind you, I didn't have to commute in them.
  18. 86238 at Brundall 1992 How about a photo with more than 7 locos in shot
  19. According to BRDatabase, mainly Cashmore's Great Bridge.
  20. After the Wardair 'incident', their weekly 747 was relegated to Stand 23 out of harms way. Air Cymru 737 Britannia 767 in good Welsh summer weather
  21. Your DC3, HitchinLoco, is G-AMSV; the same aircraft as in my Cardiff photo. It certainly seems to have got around a bit.
