  1. No manufacturer have ever done that …limited number, colours and geographical area may scupper the idea
  2. I’m confused. You moaned to Bachmann the 47 didn’t have DC cab lights, then cancelled your AS orders cos they said the 31 and 37 would ? Why not stick with AS for the new models ?
  3. Ah but BRM is 5.99, traction 4.99 so no point not buying BRM or is the traction content smaller ?
  4. Looks quite good. I’m confused that the app I have for traction is still offfering it as a stand alone ?
  5. The sidings of course are seeing new action again with trains of imported ballast ( spoil ?) going to whitemoor
  6. Interesting viewpoint from inside there. I think burkhardt was popular with enthusiasts as trains appeared in places they hadn’t for years , and he had to reinstate a lot of old popular heaps to pull them, If I was a shareholder or on the board, I’d probably have shuddered at all the trials and uneconomic short trains running around. I know there’s a case to run some to try and get momentum on a route but seem seemed loss leaders all through.
  7. Aerotoxic poisoning is a real thing, I haven’t followed it recently but iirc a number of estates of deceased BA pilots were bringing cases against airlines and manufacturers . Aircraft use bleed air for air con, ie air taken off the engine and filtered is then fed into the cabin for pressurisation and heating . If there is a seal problem engine oil vapour can leak in . You don’t want to be breathing either . The 146 and 757 were big on this - I worked on both and had fume incidents on both. In the latter we ended up having blood tests to check what we were exposed to
  8. These purists …what are they ? Sounds like some extreme self flagellating group ….ive never met one
  9. Is it my imagination or is the bachy one way higher ? Heljan wins on the front footsteps , over those abominations attached to the body or chassis ( dependant on where they end up ) on bluebox version . It always seems Bachmann has a Friday afternoon moment with something . Footsteps on this , snowploughs on the 37
  10. I always guessed it came from the big side grids on the loco…..or its importance to the …national grid .. well I live and learn
  11. If I was looking for a new lover now, I think I’d soften her up with some more “ normal “ pursuits like gaslighting and base jumping first …. before she accidentally spies the layout along the wall, in my love palace … “ oh yes , that’s my other hobby….”
  12. 47001 was this version in the older tooling , but it wasn’t done well. Shawplan makes various bit and bobs for this, replica railways makes stickers for the marker lights
  13. Enjoy your model, but people, please stop making excuses for errors and mistakes . It’s 2024, you shouldn’t have to “ fettle “ a brand new model . And what is that yellow bit by the buffer ?
  14. Dammit, they look a bit saucy. im going to have to make up some excuse of a layout to put some on !
  15. Looks good , but very “ loosely “ I’d say
  16. It’s flattery I think, which I don’t see any issue with . Shell island is on my “ legends “ list because it is so artistically well done and it was one of the first layouts that said to me - you don’t have to cram every inch with track to create a sense of place
  17. There’s loads of layouts I’d love to copy - a lot of them BR blue and by people like Mr Futers and Mr Gibbons ( RIP). If I ever got round to it they’d be fairly crap copies - which puts me off as I’d taint the legends

    EBay madness

Not so much an eBay nightmare but maybe shows the perils of charging full labour when making layouts professionally - makes even a simple layout horrifically expensive
  19. They are too busy nicking people building TMDs with 2000 LED lights featuring 1960 Bachmann diesel depots , and stuffed full of colas engines making a racket
