  1. I absolutely love this model, can't wait for the second one.
  2. The bridge has started to come together. An idea of how the finished article will look.
  3. I have found time over the last few days to design and cut out using my silhouette the following slightly daunting pile of bits for the bridge. I am not sure about the rivets they may not be prominent enough, but worrying about that can wait until after painting. Edit: the pile is bigger than it looks...
  4. I finally managed to get some time to actually start the physical work. I made this model of me rowing a rather nice Empacher when I was at uni and have never found the right place for it, until now! The basis of the land form has been put together and a start on the greenery. The boat will be glued down once the water has been finished. The other bit to be reused is this platform with terminal boxes on, the boxes are ratio I think and the platform was made from plasticard and brass wire. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/gallery/image/84220-20171229-221201/
  5. The seasonal distractions continue but I have managed to find time to sketch out some bits to save time when I can actually get cracking.
  6. This is staggeringly good. The ambition and attention to detail in a cake box is amazing.
  7. I really like this, the back scenes are superbly blended
  8. The basic plan is this. A double track bridge crossing the grand union with a single sculler emerging from under the bridge. On the right hand bank next to the bridge sit a pair of terminal boxes. A cable bridge will cross from them over the tracks.
  9. Has this gone any further? I love rainy scenes.
  10. Just brilliant, I love the hanging ceiling.
  11. That is a great scene, I am looking forwards to seeing it fully modelled.
  12. Time for me to throw my hat into the cake box... I have been scrabbling around for a decent idea for this, then looking through the excellent entries posted up on here what I need to do is add water to electricity. You will have to bear with me for a few days for this to start for seasonal reasons but it will contain: -Flat water -A small boat -A bridge -A length of London Underground track -If I have time then either some A or S stock (scratch built to keep cost down). The aim is to do it all from consumables and the bits box. Budget will be £10.
  13. Lovely work. I would like to add a plus one to the calls for more grotty looking pallets though.
  14. This looks fantastic, very different, I can't wait to see it fully closed in and dark.
  15. I did ask about the 2361 but it isn't in the next few earmarked for re-release. Given that I am currently in the process of making my first ever engine kit anyway probably not a bad thing from my perspective. Edit: The Bayer peacock looks lovely too!
  16. Handrails and just under the foot plate what I assume is a steam pipe? fitted. The buffers supplied were fitted, added a bit of crispness to heads by turning them in a hand drill before fitting.
  17. I fabricated a fall plate from yet more of the coffee tin and some 0.5mm brass rod. the hinges are currently a little too promenant but should look better once I line the floor with wood (from some chip shop forks) after the engine gets painted Hand rails were also added to the cab rear
  18. The wheels were a tight interference fit and needed some persuasion with slotted bits of wood. The gear however just had a grub screw.
  19. Thank you Hayfield and Graham. I was surprised by the lamp iron positioning too, but I am working from a photo of 2516 on Mike Morant's site, I might resite them if I can find a clearer (or older) photo I am lucky in that this came with wheels on plain axles rather like Gibson ones. At some point I might well swap the wheels out for modern ones and replace the connecting ride and crank pins eye. Swapping the drive gear out was surprisingly easy.
  20. Another major problem was only the top half of the back head as modelled and there was no can floor. Plasticard provided the answer. The springs were made by threading a piece of plastic rod.
  21. Thank you, I wasn't aware of that at all. It is manufactured by Wizard Models https://www.wizardmodels.ltd/shop/buildings/local-authority-post-and-wire-fencing-curved-post-tff008/
  22. I love the farm buildings they look to be progressing well. Are they based on real buildings or freestyle?
  23. I think having a full boiler barrel is a huge improvement! You can see the coffee tin in question in the back ground. Some lamp brackets fitted!
  24. This post is about a new experience for me, a white metal kit loco. I picked up a part built dean goods with a load of missing bits very cheaply and decided it would make a good basis for a first effort. After a few runs, the K's motor mk2? (the smaller one) packed in so I replaced it with a 99p jobby from china and a high level (i think) gearbox. one of the advantages of this was it allowed me to complete the bottom of the boiler which had been removed to allow the K's motor to fit. a coffee tin proved perfect for the job along with 145 degree solder and a huge amount of flux. fitting up to make sure nothing snags before i finish the boiler off.
  25. Mostly modelling time has been dedicated to making my first full kit loco using a part built K's dean goods from ebay which was missing quite a few bits, but I have found the time to make a little progress on the layout.
