  1. Have no need for a 92 personally but the Mk3 sleeper would be a great addition. It covers so many areas of the country. The 3 main lines north in Scotland (West Highland, Inverness, Aberdeen) You have both The ECML & WCML. The GWML and I believe cross country routes as well back in the late 80's. Intercity land cruises had several with the white roof, as well as a few one offs such as VSOE, Northern Belle and there is even a maroon one used by Jarvis (?) on engineering services with (iirc) a crane. personally 3 Intercity swallow examples would be very welcome. Good luck with all projects and sorry for going off topic on what should be a very promising class 92. Regards Mark
  2. layout of the show for me. Running well with constant but believable operations. Lovely details in quite a compact space. I must of watched the operations for an hour out of the 5 1/2 I was there yesterday. I'm a massive fan of Georgemas Junction and this is also turning into a favourite as well.
  3. Edwin, Felixstowe, Lowestoft and Cambridge services still terminate at Ipswich afaik. The through running to Colchester will help alleviate some issues with the Peterborough services though.
  4. Its going to be interesting times around my area. There are a couple of things that seems strange to me though. With 3 car units the minimum, which in itself seems weird on lines like Felixstowe which often have 3 people on them!, Can the current bay at Ipswich accept two of the new units? There is often a 153 and a 156 or 170 in there but I haven't seen anything longer. I cant understand the logic of extending the Peterborough Ipswich services through to Colchester. With Ipswich Colchester already well covered and only Manningtree in between the two stations, where does this requirement come from? With the additional passenger services, I'm not sure how the ever growing Felixstowe freightliners are going to be accommodated. Sudbury services are being extended to Colchester (again 3 car units???). The Peterboroughs being extended to Colchester as well and stock moves to the new depot at Manningtree means there are less paths when the GEML is reached. Cross country services have been discussed already. Having read some of the new provisions I not sure whether we are futureproofing the area or have just gone mad for the sake of it. Mark
  5. I think for me the two I always go back to are Reighton and Kyle of Tongue by Steve Flint. Whenever Im planning my layout and keep thinking I can add more and more I always go back and read the RM articles about these two for a bit of rational thinking and to understand that something simple done well can work just as easily and still look stunning. Another one for me is Georgemas Junction by George Woodcock. It has an amazing ability of looking realistic whilst running unrealistic length trains. I think it takes a special kind of layout to pull off running 4 wagons instead of 20 and still being believable. It must be down to the quality of modelling that brings everything together. Its something I also found with Warren Lane at Ally Pally. Honourable mentions to Nether Stowey, Hursley, Tonbridge West Yard and the many Ian Futers models I have seen in the mags over the years. They are all very varied in style but have a certain hold over me.
  6. great to see the lovely Georgemas Junction at Stowmarket today.

  7. had a nice hour at the stowmarket exhibition. shame my 4 year old wasnt feeling his best but he seemed to like the lovely Georgemas junction nearly as much as me

  10. thanks for your quick response. order has now been placed Mark
  11. hi, can someone help on the pricing aspect? Ive gone to order two single wagons and I get quoted a price of £50 including delivery. The website suggests either £22 per wagon on early bird or £25 after. There is a £5 delivery charge quoted but for me that should be £49 or £54 if the early bird discounted is deducted at a later stage. Ive looked on the FAQ page in case I am missing something but answers to the given questions do not become available when I click. Its not a major issues as we are only talking about a small amount of money but was just looking for clarity and to make sure Im not missing something. Thanks in advance Mark
  12. Hi if anyone is interested I have found the N gauge wagons for pre order on C&M Carlisle website. Hope this helps Mark
  13. Thanks for a prompt reply Dave. Just seems unusual that I cant find them in Liverpool, Sheffield, Cornwall, Peterborough to name a few. Maybe they just haven't updated their sites or maybe I am missing something Thanks again Best wishes Mark
  14. Sorry If I am being silly here/ have misread but is it correct that the N gauge wagons need to be pre-ordered if I want to get my hands on any? I have checked the DJM website and it has an expressions of interest page but these do not feature and a quick google search/ check of the big modelshop websites do not appear to give details of the products yet. Thanks in advance Mark
  15. SD mouldings is the name, Nether Stowey is the brilliant n gauge layout they featured on
  16. brilliant news. I think Im in love! two of my favourite wagons, multiple liveries, heaven
  17. Firstly a big thumbs up for putting together another excellent plan so quickly but can I ask how the expressions of interest work with this project. For the pendo there is only 1 route and 1 main livery so people were unlikely to be put off if their number wasn't chosen as the model would fit their general requirements. With the 320/1/2 there are so many geographical areas and such a livery split that your chosen livery not making the final cut would mean that the model itself may no longer be relevant and may put you off altogether. Sorry if this has already been explained elsewhere Thanks Mark
  18. I don't suppose the LTM would consider underground stock niche. Its really their bread and butter.
  19. it really is beautiful in the flesh. Simply stunning. Unfortunately I didn't get to see as much operation as I hoped as the pannier was having some operational issues for one of my visits but these things happen and it meant I could take in more of the beautifully crafted landscape. Without doubt an ally pally highlight
  20. I maybe the only one but I actually prefer the interim livery. Obviously the purple stripe would be replaced with a red one but there is something that doesn't quite work for me on the full livery. I think its mainly the sinister sharks mouth and the weird swirl. Mark
  21. cant remember seeing any layouts with ticket machines or platforms with the bin removed and a clear plastic bag added to the fittings for security matters. The first I suppose is rarely modelled as they are normally within a building and therefore unseen on most models but the second is definitely part of the noticeable modern scene
  22. Hi, Its a lovely layout and I hope you find a good home for it. I have both this and your truncated through station as shortcuts on my favourites board so will miss the updates but I can understand the reasoning behind your decision. I hope you get a good price for it.
  23. Stunning, as always any chance you can make the pictures a bit larger on future updates? they seem rather small compared to other posters Regards Mark
  24. I don't like littering threads with wow that's amazing type of comments as the thread would soon loose its flow but this has continued to grow into one of the most impressive layouts around so sorry but WOW THATS AMAZING! An astounding sense of belonging and setting a scene.
  25. That is a shockingly poor error. I love all that Dapol has done to move the hobby forward over the past few years and especially for giving an additional option for n gauge modellers but that is just not good enough The old expression 'its not rocket science' springs to mind. How difficult is it to get a photo of a given prototype and copy the details, especially such prominent ones as the main body side print.
