  1. Hi Ardmore, I hope you are well. just seeing if there is any progress on the layout mark
  2. Newtonmore station would be fantastic. when I contacted them, they did suggest that they would be willing to look into downsizing Grantown or Longmorn but neither really fitted what I was looking for. Brora or Newtonmore are definitely of the design I was thinking off. heres hoping. mark
  3. Hi Robert, hope you like it. if there is something you fancy, give the guys an email. I was amazed at how quick and helpful they were. From a one line enquiry to an almost personalised design with a couple of weeks! regards Mark
  4. Hi all. Just to say I did also set up a separate thread in the smaller suppliers section for Pop Up. Mark
  5. Whilst reading the Peco thread I stumbled across a company called Pop Up, who has released a few models of scottish origin buildings. Their Goods Shed was of interest to me but they only advertised it as being available in OO. I contacted them to ask if they had any plans to release the model in N. They responded really quickly and advised of a few issues where they were not 100% comfortable in downsizing it to N. After a few email exchanges, I suggested a few options and to my suprise they offered to forward the CAD design to me so I could see if my suggestions would work. To my novice eyes the changes really worked and the model has now been released and is available in their shop - https://www.popupdesigns.co.uk/shop/ The kit has arrived with me in the last few days and unfortunately I have not had time to build it but the kit itself looks lovely. I would recommend taking a look in their store. i definately hope to order more from them in future and cant fault them for the service and help on this model. Regards Mark
  6. Further to Ben Alders post above, I contacted pop up designs and asked if they had an plans to release any of their other models in N gauge as I was especially interested in the highland goods shed. They responsed very quickly and they advised of their concerns over a few area's. To my suprise they gave me access to the CAD design and I gave my feedback on how to tweak it to work better in N. I must stress that I am only a novice and so any flaws you may have in the product are likely to be mine. The product is now available from their shop https://www.popupdesigns.co.uk/shop/ I have not had a chance to build it yet but from opening the box, the kit looks lovely. i would recommend dropping them a line if you need anything as I cant fault their service.
  7. name relates to the poor girl in this article https://www.ipswichstar.co.uk/news/train-for-terri-1-135502 regards Mark
  8. that looks great Charlie, you don't fancy teaming up on the PFA as well do you?
  9. . Great announcement and one i didnt see coming. I dont suppose there is an N gauge tie up planned is there? I know some of your releases have been done in partnership with other suppliers in the smaller size Regards Mark
  10. Hi. I would be interested in a few and have filled in the pole above. Is this thread based on a conversation in which Revolution has advised it will be a goer if numbers add up or is this done with no interaction from them and so is more of a wishlist?
  11. it was fantastic seeing this in the flesh on Saturday at Doncaster and it was probably the layout I spent the longest admiring. To be honest, I have never really been a great fan of sound fitted locos but there was something about hearing them on Charwelton that made me want to bring myself into the 21st century with my modelling. I think its the size of the layout that helps as it reminded me of sitting at Holgate Junction, York, when on holiday as a teenager. The memories of hearing something rumbling round the curve or seeing it in the distance but then having to wait to get the number and then watch a long rake of wagons pass by behind it. The 56 on the MGR really is an impressive site and your model seems to convey the size and power of the real thing very well. I cant see it on the topic so apologies if I have missed it but I was wondering if you could confirm the overall size of the layout and also how wide the scenic boards are. The station area especially holds quite a few tracks but has both a sense of not being crowded but also not being very wide. Im not sure if this is due to the size of the surrounding room or if it really is the case. Regards Mark
  12. Hi, thought this was one of the star layouts at Donny and definitely one of the two I kept coming back to have a look at. The detailing is amazing considering the scale and the whole layout just has a great feel to it. I tried to get pictures from some obscure angles just to try to capture everything that you have done. I hope to see it out and about again sometime in the future. Mark
  13. I feel for dave but this difficult for me. when they were announced I ordered 2 Sharks and 3 Turbots from two different shops just to spread my orders around. By my own mistake I chose a pay now option with the shark retailer. With no sign of the models after a year, I asked the retailer if it was possible to take the money paid for the two sharks and use it towards other products which were then available. They agreed any my shark order was cancelled and my other items promptly dispatched (great and helpful service by C&M btw) The turbots have been on pre-order but with no payment made since the same time period. Now we all have different modelling budgets but for me, I don't feel too comfortable placing orders for products without payment for years when the money may come out at an inconvenient time and possibly missing out on other items as I don't want to overcommit but I also don't want to pay based on an unknown period which may be 3 years in advance for a product. Im happy doing this with crowdfunded products as I know the advantage/ risk/ timespan but with the reported 'awaiting orders' approach there is nothing to relate the time span too. I wish DJM all the best and I don't mean to criticise someone who is willing to go out on there own to promote their own endeavour but personally I cant give this approach the support I would like too. Regards Mark
  14. this is a thread I always look forward to an update on and one I hope to see live in the future and as someone who lost his 9 month old nephew to Meningitis there is now another fantastic reason to follow and support this layout. Good luck with raising money and wishing you all the best. Mark

  16. Bristol used to have 3, although maybe not as close as you were hoping for. Bristol Bath Road (locos) St Phillips Marsh (HST) Barton Hill (parcels)
  17. This thread reminds me of Triggers broom in Only Fools & horses
  18. Hi, sounds interesting. Does anyone know if any of these reached Inverness in the EWS enterprise era (ideally 1997 - 2000 ish) Just seeing if I have a legitimate excuse. Thanks in advance Mark

  22. So happy to see an update. It is one of my favourites on here and I have been considering PM'ing you for a while to make sure you were ok but I didn't want to interfere or appear to be rude/ nosey. Looking forward to seeing how you are progressing. Regards Mark
  23. I was expecting Farish Mk2's in reggie rail to go with the 37/4 and I'm surprised that the 47 hasn't been released in RES/ Swallow as seen in the larger size the other year yet. My personal hope was for seacow ballast wagons to be re-released and the timber wagons to be downsized but neither was to be. The Bachmann website has now been updated to show images and some of them looks very nice indeed however the intermodal twinset with a price of 75 quid took me a bit by surprise. Overall this appears to be a decent and varied set of new releases for the coming year(s) developments and I can see things added to my own personal wishlist. Others will feel deflated but not all can be pleased at all times. Mark
  24. Hi We played Millwall in a game probably around the period 1997 - 2000 and when we took the lead, their fans starting 'chanting 1-0 to the tractor boys' as a derogatory comment about our rural/ bumpkin/ inbred image and the name went from being an insult to being adopted by us. Hope this helps Mark edit, my memory tells me it was Millwall fans but the internet suggests it was Leeds fans who came up with the term.
  25. a quick look on flickr shows colas 56 & timber - https://www.flickr.com/photos/47500cdb/10315683046/ DBS 66 on fuel - https://www.flickr.com/photos/peteryoungrailwayphotos/11250894183/ The search also throws up DCR 31's but always as light engines and charters mainly in the hands of DBS 67 or DRS 37's Hope this helps.
