  1. I liked the comment in the coverage that if you looked at yesterdays result and the one previous to that, you'd think that nothing happened yesterday. I don't think Frome is a dead cert for the winner, but yesterday shows that he can pull something back when all appears lost.
  2. I remember being told by a woman of the glass ceiling in most offices, I ventured to suggest it was quite difficult for her to clean........... Hat Coat Tardis...
  3. Excellent, I did wonder at various times if I was looking at the cast list of 'Gregory's Girl' And at 14.15......who didn't want to run with a Deltic when it accelerated!
  4. As a camera they're actually quite good, nearly all the recent posts with pictures on my thread are using the phone, I only want them as a record of progress and so take them at the bench then email it to myself so that I don't have to download the phone just open an email. and update. Oh dear....I'm hooked....
  5. You are quite correct that my action could be deemed to be rude, but when I'm handing over money I want that persons attention and fail to see why someone not in the room should take precedent. I would say I haven't done it that often, generally choosing to walk out. I did see a salesperson at a till in New York, take the phone from a customer and turn it off so she could get her attention.
  6. In defence of the mobile phone (especially smart phones) they have been a real godsend at work. Gone are the days of driving round in the middle of nowhere trying to find a payphone that worked just to find out where deliveries were. Being able to look up material specifications in a few seconds on the web has given me my evenings as it all had to wait until I got back to the office. Same goes for the many answerphone messages that had to be returned, now they get the answer without the ping pong of messages that used to be the way. I would say that the attitude that the phone is important has been around for quite a while and is not confined to mobiles. On quite a few occasions I have been at a till/shop counter when part way through a transaction the phone rings and the assistant picks it up to answer the call thereby ignoring me. The automatic response from me is to reach across and press the button to disconnect the call. Generally it is met with an apology for answering but on a few occasions I have been on the end of a tirade of abuse so have left the shop without purchases.
  7. Just a note on the subject of phones. I pointed out to someone at work recently that he was constantly picking the phone up and looking at the screen and said he was becoming obsessed with it, he pointed out that he didn't carry a watch anymore (they always get damaged at work) and was looking at the time on the phone. A bricklaying subcontractor I use has anywhere between 30-60 brickies working for him at any one time, If they're caught using their phone in his time he throws it in the water butt, seems to work in stopping them (I've seen 2 occasions)
  8. Good video Tom, Something I do on pick ups is to put some sleeving over the .45 where it passes by gearboxes. I can't actually remember where I got it but it resembles the internals of ball point pens.
  9. I'm intemperate and yet you want manufacturers to work to your idea of how it should be done. Good luck with that. Surprisingly not everyone does this for commercial gain, they do it as a hobby. You put it much better than myself John, I'll send you my favourite Estwing hammer so you can hit the nail again. Edit, for those interested I had one of Dans lovely handwritten letters last week advising a list will be produced shortly.
  10. D&S was one man designing etched kits and white metal wagons and always run as a husband and wife team for packing and despatch, Dan is now on his own and continues to produce etches when he has orders for them, I think he deserves a retirement that so many others enjoy, and I'm grateful that he still produces what he does. If you find it tedious, then do what I do and etch and cast your own parts.
  11. That might be so, but as Dan is not in the first flush of youth I don't think he wants the hassle that goes with increased production. He sold on a lot of the wagon kit masters to ABS etc some years ago and has now found a way of working that suits him.
  12. Slightly off topic .....this is meant to be about Bachmann press day and new releases, but has turned into a Lima love fest.
  13. I was 11 stone once.......I passed it by one Saturday morning and haven't seen it since... Actually I've just got the papers for my 55yr medical, I'm interested to see any differences.
  14. The signal/channel for BBC4 during the daytime is CBBC (Cbeebies) How I don't.......
  15. Rather ominous that an RM is centre stage in that pic.....trying to say something ....
  16. The cloth based duct tape would look very similar, stick it to itself and it could easily be cut to resemble a flat hose.
  17. Their website says they're at a 2 day show this weekend, I can imagine in Oz the journey there and back isn't a quick one. They have some lovely looking products and don't seem like a fly by night bunch. Pretty much all transactions on the internet are through 'merchant services' such as Paypal, others are 'World Pay' etc, pay through PP and select the credit card option and you'll have no trouble.
  18. If you look back through the posts there are some that have purchased and used the bullhead track. There are no turnouts available yet.
  19. Scotland has so much to offer with global warming. Excellent day out by the looks of it.
  20. Yes the WM waste should be 40mm (1'1/2") as well as Bath and Kitchen sink, The 32mm (1'1/4") pipe is just hand basins as there is little flow. As for Marley, that wouldn't fit with anything, and sometimes not even itself. Stick to a make like Osma or Plumb Centre brand (PC) and you'll be ok, I tend to use PC pipe and fittings.
  21. Just don't offer to ride anything while wearing crotchless leather chaps......... It would not be good....
  22. Must admit that I only remembered the tune when the Indian name was mentioned above, at aged 14 I obviously missed the Drugs and homosexual references.
  23. From the pic the Dergo air vent should be much higher than it is and vertical. Ideally it should be above the highest point of any water Level which means all the way back to the sink. Having said that it isn't required so long as the sink has a vent then when the machine pumps out it will draw air from the sink vent. An issue is the height, that looks to be at plinth level. The machine waste should be higher than the drum or it will constantly drain with gravity. I would take all that crap out and fit a washing machine waste (along with the clips which get left off) and have the waste bend near the top of the machine. http://www.screwfix.com/p/floplast-washing-machine-trap-white-40mm/18640
