I *think* it's a K's body on a Kemilway chassis... Mark The missing coupling hook is the least of the issues with it, certainly at that price! It is, as you say, a bit of a 'mix' - but it is apparently a *Code 3*... Mark

Caveat emptor and all that...but at least it's the correct owning company, unlike this offering from Cartmel... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRI-ANG-RAILWAYS-R-52-NER-EX-LMS-3F-0-6-0T-JINTY-TANK-LOCO-CODE-3/300875501474?_trksid=p2045573.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D27%26meid%3D8385146587746454426%26pid%3D100033%26prg%3D1011%26rk%3D3%26sd%3D161043719056%26 Mark

Yes indeed. That's another error. As I said, a nice enough model, but the price? http://www.lner.info/locos/N/n10.shtml http://www.lner.info/locos/N/n8.shtml http://www.lner.info/locos/N/n9.shtml Caveat emptor, as I doubt many folk would say on Tyneside Mark
  5. And you get to glow in the dark, thanks to Sellafield... Mark

  9. Show pictures of what we wore back then to today's kids - no, better not, unless you have broad shoulders to cope with the mickey-taking... Mark
  10. Love that shot of the ES1 too - with the EE Type 4 behind - and some very 'iffy' attire being sported!! G'day, Neil Mark
  11. I think it's South Shields too. Always nice to see pics like these Mark
  12. OMG Porcy - there is indeed a 'blast from the past'... Mark
  13. And although I lived in Liverpool at the time, I was sent to South Shields for my College time as an Engineer cadet... Different company to Neil though... Mark
  14. 2 and 3 here. For 2, I'm presently working up to building a model of Scalby, albeit bringing an overbridge south of the viaduct closer to act as a scenic break. For 3, that's my Midland Railway layouts over the years - real enough places but imaginary branches to them, but following MR practice. Mark

A powered O gauge brake van, anyone? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/O-GAUGE-KIT-BUILT-LNER-BRAKE-VAN-3-RAIL-POWERED-/290925982207?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item43bc8a31ff

  19. You can actually get past Scalby & all the way to Gallows Close. (A Sainsburys stands on part of the old yard there). The station site at Scalby & a little bit of the trackbed north of it has been built on, but there is a clear diversion which takes you back onto the route at the north end of the viaduct. Yes, a very scenic route, but a swine to work, particularly in winter, with steep climbs either side of Ravenscar; 1 in 39 southbound & 1 in 41 northbound. Then you had the reversals at each end to complicate matters. Mark

Quite. Whilst we all have to accept that Royal Mail's recent increases are not good for the wallet, sadly some vendors are taking the you-know-what... Mark

Ten grand? That's one hell of a first sale! (and a lot of commission to eBay...) Mark
  22. I agree with much of what you've put, pheaton. However, the LMS 10000 bunch haven't been put off, & frankly much of their gear will be pretty basic - no modern electronics in the control systems for a start - all discrete components that will be easier to obtain & change for a while yet, unlike much modern stuff. The heavy stuff; yes, more expensive to manufacture from new than many steam locomotive parts, but again, straightforward in engineering terms. Mark
