  1. I've heard of Duck Under, but this is a Duck Over: St Annes Park Tunnel on the outskirts of Bristol: If there is a duck, it's hidden in the trees, but an interesting assortment of current and former junctions:
  2. This duck might get bored looking for an occasional freight train on this short branchline - let's hope he isn't mucking about while waiting!
  3. Wivenhoe to the SE of Colchester: The next duck needs to avoid those power lines! Go one square South and one square East and you'll know exactly where to look.
  4. And, of course, not too far from Telford.
  5. Probably as many golf courses as ducks?? Not a lot of ducks in this area but we are in the vicinity of a New Town which, despite its infancy, has a connection to the Industrial Revolution!
  6. It wasn't the first "Ditton" that Google threw up, but we're just to the West of Widnes (Vine Yard): How about a golf course instead of a duck?
  7. The duck has a friend in the square to the West - both are in a National Park that doesn't live up to its name in this section!
  8. "and my next offering is this one, which may be a little misleading . . ." ...........the power line ending in the middle of nowhere made me think of a disused power station; it's near the old Richborough site: The duck is back again, to help you find him someone has left a big footprint in the square to the North
  9. OK, the next square: This is not on a mainline - the square contains a clue to where the branchline leads
  10. North-West of Witton-le-Wear on the Weardale Railway (I do like clues that narrow down the search area): Will post the next one tomorrow.
  11. Rather than post the square immediately below this one (which contains the name of the canal), you can do a little bit of work..... The City that the canal is named after has a nameplate from 46240 displayed at its station. Follow the canal in the correct direction and you'll find this lonely duck.
  12. Two clues: This stretch of railway has four lines The canal (in SW corner) takes its name from a city to the South East
  13. It's Rugby station: Another duck that likes to watch mainline trains:
  14. I blinked yesterday and totally missed Bishopton! We're currently between Adisham and Bekesbourne on the Canterbury - Dover line (thanks for the clue, found it on the second line I checked): Next up: The duck is watching a mainline express but if you follow the line towards the pub, you may end up in a row.
  15. SW of Willington between Derby and Burton: Another duck! At the end of this line you might buy some rock and sit on the pier but it's not the main line to this destination.
  16. Jeff Sorry I couldn't post another clue but my internet connection has had a mind of its own for the last 24 hours Graham - Well done, connection willing will try to find yours
  17. The line running SE to NW is a mainline, the branch is disused according to my rail atlas but I suspect it once had connections to a unique mint. Here is the square immediately to the North:
  18. North West of Lazonby in the Eden Valley: Next: At the end of the branch to the NE you might find a load of humbug!
  19. Folkestone: Next: A mainline but perhaps the curve will make the overall direction less obvious? If you need a clue, the next station in the up direction (which no longer exists) suggests a footballing fish!
  20. Between Wantage & Swindon in the "Vale of White" Next one: The two footpath stubs were once a railway that crossed a very frequently photographed bridge where "summer came the soonest"
  21. Hi Jeremy Glad you managed to get the squares posted - guess your clue narrows (no pun!) it to one particular region. Mike
  22. Hi Belgian Although my instructions were from the desktop (running XP), they also work on my laptop (running Windows7): When you right-click on the square you get a variety of options - just choose "Save picture as" and in both OS it opens a window to (what it thinks is) the default location eg "Pictures" or "Documents" or whatever. If this isn't the folder you would like to use, I assume you know how to change it. As Martin said, the filename will look odd but should already have "PNG" selected as the filetype. Mike
  23. I don't know about the OS site but I use http://www.fonant.com/osmap.html If you right click on the square (at 1:50k view), you can then save as a "png" file which is easily attached to your post. NB this will give you four squares, though the position of your "clicked on" square does vary in the four saved. To post a new square follow the same procedure but this time increase the magnification of the map by one step before right-clicking - that way you only save one square and not four.
  24. Next square: Another junction where two rivals once met.
  25. Thanks for the clue - I was mistakenly looking for a reversal station! Anyway, it's Drem on the ECML: Watch out for the next one later today.
