The Police heliocopper has just honoured me with a fly-past over my back garden. Couldn't resist giving them a Royal Salute. 😇

Is it just me?

I saw something nasty in the wood shed.

Radio 3 is perfectly capable of playing some decent, proper classical music but why do they have to deviate so often into the realms of psuedo-arty intellectual guff? Each time I turn over from Classic FM, in despair at the inane, repetitive adverts, I find some pontificating person spouting some clap-trap or the strident and discordant tones of modern so-called 'music' (or else it's jazz - aaargh!).

I assume you have changed the dome (and the chimney ?) Where did you obtain the B1 style dome ?
Are there alterations to be made to the cab interior control ? I hope to convert 65817 to 65894.
I have already had to sell on the early crest model as I hadnt noticed the dirrences in boiler bands etc.

This is my favourite: https://flic.kr/p/FEKxtQ. Did you take it?
To get the chimney/dome off: Mine was very well glued so it was body off and use a punch to tap them out. Both chimney and dome are located in their respective recesses by two spigots. Carefully tap directly on the spigots.
The boiler moulding is very thin and delicate at the mating surfaces so you need to tread carefully. If you have any cyano debonder (I didn't) it might be worth applying some to the joints and letting it do its stuff.

Bachmann J39 dome. Came from a Bachmann body used in a Bradwell J39 P4 conversion. I plonked a Bradwell dome on the converted model.
The Chimney is the standard Oxford rail.
The back head is a fairly good representation of the J27 prior to preservation as it lacks the prominent Brake ejector and associated gauges but the colours are a bit garish. Also missing is the "bread bin" surround for the fire hole (This was removed in later preservation) and the sight glasses for the water gauges.
If you are not using the tension lock couplings it might be worth modelling the prominent piston valve cylinder chest on 65894. Most ex. superheated J27's kept this feature.
This image on Flickr shows how far it protruded beyond the front brake cross shaft.
The cylinders were far less prominent on conventional J27's such as 64817.
If you don't already know Mr Bradwell components can be orderd starting from here: https://traders.scalefour.org/DaveBradwell/castings/

I haven't got a LSWR road van but I have been feeding the mouse that lives in the shed.

Am I grumpy because a) I've had a busy week, b) it's hot or c) there's some proper door handles here?

My god! Mrs Y has turned into a fire-breathing, judgemental touchline tyrant in the second half.

Just seen a bus with "Merry Christmas" on the indicator panel.

Five years ago today, we announced to the Irish market that we would be producing a two-axle ballast hopper. Things rapidly got out of hand...
