  1. That's one unusual sound decoder you've got in that 24.
  2. Knowing how much effort volunteers put into arranging model railway shows the organisers have my sympathies. Hopefully nobody will be too critical of the Newcastle & District MRS. There is a little more detail on why the show had to be cancelled at such short notice over on the Scalefour website. https://www.scalefour.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=8954&p=101414#p101410 Here's to next years show. 3. ... and I still struggle with my boot straps.

I suppose it depends on our subjective definitions of of "sensible". 😉 Somebody once called me sensible; then reality dawned on them. There was one at "Buy it now" for £90.00 earlier this afternoon. Seems to have gone now. I managed to get a brand new BR version for £50.00 at the Jarrow show earlier in the year and then there was a £27.00 buy from ebay which was described as weathered & a runner. It did eventually run once I'd removed the paint from the tyres and replaced some crushed wiring. I think I may have spent another £25.00 on paint stripper though trying to remove whatever the "weathering" was. It spends most of its time now plodding around South Pelaw. This is how the body started out. P
  5. Hmmmmmm? Somewhat different to mine. A very recent R30133. Time to break out the meters.
  6. My 9F has had an identical set up to yours. (Well it did have before I took the tools to it). For testing while it was in its standard form, I used a Zimo MX638D chip and all worked as expected. I did find that the decoder needed a firm push down to ensure it was properly seated. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I've just counted 16, new & second hand, of the LNER liveried on ebay. Prices from sensible to ridiculous.
  8. It must have been that extra spoonful of vegetable paella wot did it.
  9. Believe it or not, after about one o clock, the sun shone on the righteous and still continues to do so. Which is a rather a good job as some of my dripping carpets are now slung over the outside washing line. How's your hailstones?
  10. ... and very nice it was too. Couldn't resist the "just out of the oven" spiced plum duff, with five star custard. Dunno if anybody has mentioned it but the modelling on display was top drawer too. All of this & less than 65 yards from the Great North Road and a still open pub next door. What's not to like?
  11. Strange how still I managed to say hiya to you though. Busy little show. Roll (bacon) on next year. Be in touch.
  12. You'll be ecstatic about the "design clever" aspect of the moulded lower lamp irons on the tender then? 😉
  13. Mr G can (and will) have his cake and eat it. I on the other hand want meat vans; lots of Airfix meat vans. Only for the Tyneside Guinness traffic you understand. But I will have a bacon & egg sarnie (broken yoke) whilst watching Dunnies picture show. Now here's a thought... What did the load say to its lowmac... wait for it... ... said in a dalekie sort of accent, "Excavate... Excavate..."
  14. I pushed the Hornby hook out from the rear. Detail wise, depending on how far you want to go the Pivot plate will need building back up to be more prototypical. This is an Ambis hook (1mm square tail) which is a good fit. I might use up one of my rapidly diminishing supply of Exactoscale screw links on here... because she's worth it. To me, the wheels are a bit of an enigma. As alluded to earlier the typical bevel of the Stanier wheel is present but it isn't very distinct. I'm puzzled why Hornby have decided to give the wheel centre a prominent raised boss more reminiscent of an inside cylinder driver wheel rather than the flush face of the prototype. More bafflement with the bogie wheel. Should have a raised centre but it's almost flush? They manged to get those bits correct on the latest 9F. See below. 9F to the left, 2MT too the right. P
  15. "Which were used". Specially importing Fiats direct from inside their "Italian Job" factory in Turin. Ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho. Although I suppose it depends on how one defines accuracy.
  16. … probably bought by me. … then you take me to the pub. (and that's all of 25 yards from the venue). Funny looking Lowmacs …
  17. Yak, yak, rabbit, rabbit... apply solvent... yak, yak, rabbit, rabbit... tell a story... yak, yak, rabbit, rabbit... another tale... yak, yak, rabbit, rabbit... apply rivet... yak, yak, rabbit, rabbit... and repeat...
  18. ... and like the 9F, no representation of the cladding join and associated screws down the apex of the boiler. Easily rectified but why should we need to that?
  19. Your comments/questions are all answered on the previous page.
  20. I don't have one (probably Monday) as yet so am probably a little premature but would guess that the axles will be 2mm. I'd be pretty chuffed if that's the case as, for me, it opens a few options for P4 conversion. I'm rather glad that Hornby have stuck with the plastic wheel centres. Have to get rid of those tooling lines along the the boiler first. 9F to sort out first fifth though. That's after sorting out the tooling lines along a batch of Q6. (or should that be Q6's?).
  21. Fourth option (bottom) on the Std. 9F page. Try this link. https://www.youchoos.co.uk/Index-Shop.php?L1=Project&Item=BR9F&VARIANT=IMDRIVEMS16BitTYNEDOCK Usual disclaimer...
