  3. I always think it was a real shame about the modelworks engineering faults, as there was some interesting designs. But the rate at which they expanded their range was quite frightening, and ultimately contributed to their downfall. The Pansy is a robust design, I'm sure she'll give you years and years of running. It's a very neat job so far, and looks very distincitve and different in LT guise - which I must say suits it very nicely. Paul A.
  4. Hi Mark, Looking good so far Is this a model works Pannier, or a "Pansy"? A very attractive design and indeed we were to buy one in kit form years ago but opted for a Don Young Hunslet instead, not least due to the latter having outside cylinders and being easier to lubricate. Paul A.

  12. They were painted on especially for the event, as the Sentinels the quarry used to have were painted that way. We had to add a small black triangle to the bottom of the wasp striping on the second day, as one picky photographer commented on its inaccuracy! I'll admit it's not my cup of tea either, looks a bit OTT Paul A.

  14. I've quite often gone to exhibitions, bought "rare" items at a pittence and listed them on ebay. The same principle applies, there's nothing wrong with it what so ever. Paul A. edit: spelling....

  17. A new one to report: I grabbed a buy-it-now A1 models Hunslet bo bo kit I've never seen another, so I hope they're rare and I got a bargain! Paul A.
  18. Technically, Oxalic acid is a reducing agent. But you're quite right about it "self-cleaning" - as you'll find it in domestic bleaches Paul A.

  20. Agenoria do a JAZZER is 7mm, so in theory you could buy the basic kit and sit it on the chassis, assuming the clearance is there, and the dimensions right Paul A.
  21. I'm afraid not, the Hornby model is chain-drive, not rod-drive. I'm sure it'll be a lovely loco though, well worth getting for its price Paul A.

The locomotive in the Shed is "Graham", ex OIC The loco outside is "Betty", also ex OIC The Crimson Lake loco at Long Marsdon is probably "Jean" (also formerly OIC), which is also now at Rocks by Rail (formely The Rutland Railway Museum). It may interest people to know that "Graham" was originally supplied with vacuum brakes, and additional weights fitted inside the frames to increase traction. The other two locos worked the Quarry lines, while "Graham" worked the "mainline" to the exchange sidings. There is also "Barabel" which is on the Neve Valley, but has had modifications to its bonnet. All of the nameplates came off the steam locomotives which these Sentinels replaced on the IOC. Paul A.
