  1. Rails have a very optimistic buy-it-now policy for kit built stuff, it'll come around again for less I'm sure... Paul A
  2. That's correct. BH =Black Hawthorn HL = Hawthorn Leslie AB= Andrew Barclay Paul A.
  3. The Backwood crane tank will look positively weird on EM track - I would recommend sticking with 00. Paul A.
  4. Yes, as Owen said they're from Railtec and then a spray of satin varnish to make the carrier film disappear. Paul A.
  5. I filled and sanded the seam between the side skirt and footplate on mine as unfortunately there was quite a gap. Bring on the rod-drive version ASAP! Paul A.
  6. Another Agenoria kit "finished" Woohoo!

  7. This one has got me very confused. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380892469035?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Seems a fair price http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PLASTIC-KIT-BUILT-IRON-ORE-TIPPLER-OPEN-WAGONS-X-3-/351058265558?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item51bcb405d6] Seems a tad OTT! ] Only 2 days between them! Paul A.
  8. Very nice, I'll look forward to seeing this one progress Paul A.
  9. I'm currently repainting one the NCB version and thoroughly recommend filling and sanding the sides to remove the seam below the running plate. Has anyone fitted Smiths 3 links to these yet - is there an easy way of doing this? Paul A.
  10. Yes, I believe so - that photo is new to me, so thanks for the link You are ofcourse, correct! There is a useful "how to" on the BCB area of the forum where the Hornby offering has had these fitted, filing off the fabricated versions and fitting a white metal alternative for anyone who feels so inclined Paul A.
  11. At least these tipplers will have a decent underframe, unlike the Bachmann offering. Also, on a separate note which may be of interest to many viewing this topic, I believe the forthcoming Bachmann Lancashire Steel Manufacturing 27ton tipplers to be incorrect. All the photos I have of these vehicles show them to be of the 26ton variety, with roller bearings. Perhaps this is just an “easy win” for Bachmann and those who aren’t too picky with their stock? Paul A.
  12. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WYCHBURY-ETCHED-BRASS-KIT-HUNSLET-CLASS-48150-INDUSTRIAL-0-6-0ST-/121313500073?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item1c3ed91ba9 More expensive than new from Mercian right now.... Paul A.
  13. 14mm is 3' 6'' in 4mm scale I believe, which may help some people Paul A.
  14. Alex that is superb! I have a 4mm (and 2mm one, which I grabbed while JE still do them) Janus waiting in a box after I complete my current loco build - it doesn't look like you've omitted anything from the 2mm etches in your build - and if you have it's not noticeable... Paul A.
  15. Yes that's right Arthur. It seems that some of the Stanton locomotives had a modified buffer beams to accept them also, which I have tried to replicate here. Paul A.
  16. I have used RT's S&L buffers on my most recent kit build, and they certainly add a lot of character Paul A.
  17. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KIT-SCRATCHBUILT-J94-LOCO-/301091206423?hash=item461a6f3517 Blimey, frame made from bits of warship by the looks of things... Paul A.
  18. Have you considered basing an 0-6-0 industrial body kit around the Electrotren chassis? Like a Hudswell Clarke side tank for instance? http://homepage.ntlworld.com/foxfield/Hudswell_Clarke_0-6-0T_NCB_No140_Caverswall_Road_15July2005.JPG Paul A.
  19. Hoping his Narrow Planet plates turn up soon so he can draw a line under a project once and for all...

  20. Spent most of Sunday thinning axle bushes. :(

Chripes..and you can see the screen to record your post ?!

  21. Any plans to exhibit Juniper Hill this year Mark? Your Manning Wardle is very nice by the way - as someone else has said, very SDI Irchester... Paul A.
  22. Quite correct, although Maud was a rod-drive example, ousted from the Oxfordshire Ironstone Company at Wroxton. Her sister (and brother) locomotives BETTY, JEAN, BARABEL and GRAHAM are preserved. Their names came from the steam locomotives they replaced, MAUD having Peckett-style plates. Paul A.
  23. low-bloom super glue should do just fine, if used sparingly. It's about £6 a bottle but its very useful stuff. Paul A.
