  1. I was going to mention the ones in shettleston down yard but I didn't know the numbers. There is another wagon looks like a pipe wagon on the other side of the line in the up yard.
  2. Class 313, 314,315,507,508 Class 317,318,455 Class 320,321,322
  3. Strathclyde Orange and black (with or without scotrail "woosh" refurbished sets only) Manchester PTE Orange and brown Strathclyde carmine and cream Network south east (303399 test unit) There are a number of body variations As built with wrap round cab windows Modified with flat windscreens Refurbished with different sliding doors and hopper Windows gangway doors between coaches with or without headlight As above but retaining sliding Windows units 55,56 & 85 only. If you want to add an additional grill next to the brake van then you can have a class 311 as well. Go on go on go on you know you want to.
  4. In the bond film from Russia with love there is a bit when they are traveling from Istanbul and you see lots of mk1 coaches and from memory a black 5 all with British railways lion and crest logos Then there is mission impossible with a TGV going through the channel tunnel with no overhead wires.
  5. I think it's famous for being famous, even though it is nothing special, is high maintenance, a lot of us are bored of it through over exposure, the general public like it while many can't see what the fuss Is about. It is the Jordan (Katie Price) of the railway world!!
  6. It could have been a reality even more recently. Back in 1991 scotrail were having a lot of problems with the then new class 158s. They considered taking all of them out of service for modifications. This left the problem of what to replace them with the class 47/7s had already gone to network south east. Scotrail did consider the class 50's I know the withdrawn one's at Laira were looked at but they needed too much work done on them. I don't know if it went any further, but the plan was dropped. I doubt they would have been repainted into scotrail livery for the short time they would have been used. I don't know what type of coaches they planned to use the mk3s had already gone to intercity west coast. Pity it didn't happen
  7. After the class 28s worked the condor overnight to Glasgow they were used during the day on local passenger servicies. I have read they worked Cathcart circle trains and Gourock servicies. Don't know if they worked other routes.
  8. Yeah 24 mins is about right. on the way back the bus stop is just next to the small post office to the left as you come out of hattons. if you are a Beatles fan look out for the bank (banker in a motor car) the Barbers (showing photographs of every head he's had the pleasure to know) and the shelter in the middile of the roundabout. Across the road is ST Barnabas church where Paul was a choir boy and when his brother Mike got married in the church Paul was best man. and a short walk away is Newcastle road where john lived for a while. and just about where you get off the bus used to be woolworths where Cynthia Lennon worked onthe perfume counter. If your not a Beatles fan ignore all that and go straight to hattons and spend a fortune
  9. until they find out Linda used to be called Norman before the operation

  15. as someone who is rubbish at scratch building I often see a model either in a magazine, at a show or on this site and I think WOW what a great model thats amazing. but I dont even think saying that would do it justice this is the best model making i have ever seen. I cant wait to see the finished layout. your railway room must be a bit bigger than mine.
  16. they did work up to Carlisle for a while normally coupled to a 156 in the summer for strengthening however there were a lot of complaints over ride quality and the awfull bus seats in them. imagine a 2 and a half hours on jointed track. they were never officially banned they just stopped diagraming them. they could still go if they were short of other units. the pacers were also a nightmare going to Lancaster in the summer as the had a tendancy to stick on the tight curve into Carnforth once took me 20 mins to get round the curve a sleeper at a time as I kept losing power the unit thought it was wheel spin and cut off power.
