I came across this photo recently of a Bedford MK Army truck on a Lowmac; and it seemed a good model addition to my Shortmoor Military railway layout. There aren't many 4mm scale 1970's British military truck models available, but I did find this excellent JB Models Bedford MK Army truck kit from the 1990's on eBay, but realising if I built it built straight from the box with the canopy fitted; it would foul the loading gauge. So I scratch built a platform load bed to lower the height, airbrushed it in Tamiya Dark Green after masking the windows, as the cab is a one piece clear plastic moulding. I had to make some tiny hooks for the securing chains from 0.5mm brass wire ( a fiddley job!). I shall have now to build an end loading dock now to facilitate unloading!

I did the same a few years back. Fitted a Kingfisher models resin non tilt fitted rear body to my MK. I also have a picture of a lightweight land rover (available from Oxford diecast) loaded on a lowmac, which I modelleid n O. Just a thought, perhaps you should do a model thread rather than a status update

trialed transfer paper for inkjet printer. not good, not a patch on how good the laser stuff was that I was using at work. Only 1 thing for it, be very nice to Mrs SG until she buys me a very good expensive colour laser printer......I may need to treat her....

I just used the word 'skidaddle' in my head while thinking. To mrs SG I'd like to apologise, I will shortly return that lingo to the 1950s and normal service will be resumed.

We have occasional compulsory drugs testing in work. they turned up today. Work Colleague: 'I need something to drink before I go down, pass me that bottle from under that desk'. proceeds to chug from bottle of 'blue energy drink', runs to sink and vomits. 'That's not energy drink, that's engine coolant.' Well that's one way to avoid testing, although he's currently in hospital getting mocked.

For some reason, I always got the call every time at Lyneham. used to settle for a nice leasurely cup of tea, head up to the gym for testing, and sit in the sin bin for several hours.Apparantly as a 30 something single parent, I fitted the profile as a user, and that was from the Regt WO on the testing team!!
