  1. But I have another hard drive backing that one up!
  2. Thanks Andy. Glad I have always relied on my old reliable external hard drives to store my photos instead of these 'cloudy' things!
  3. Whilst looking at some older posts on RMWEB I have found that photos have been replaced by a 'Photobucket' logo and I can't access the photos. I have tried registering with photobucket but get an error every time. Why can't I access the photos? Does photobucket still exist? If not, how can the photos be found on RMWEB? I assume it isn't a copyright issue as some of the pics are posters own photos of models they have worked on. Thanks to anyone who can solve this one.
  4. If you can find a friend who has a DCC controller you can see if it runs ok on DCC. If so, then ask them to change the value of cv29 to allow dc running. No need to strip or rewire anything!
  5. Incorrect advice! I plucked up the courage to turn the decoder round and guess what - it now runs in the right direction and the lights work too.
  6. Mine arrived yesterday - no complaints! Straight on to the layout for running in.
  7. Locomotion have today announced yet another model of DP1 Deltic. This time it is in 'East Coast Main Line Livery'. I already have two issued by Locomotion in slightly different blue liveries because I thought the first one I bought didn't look the right blue so I bought the second issue that was supposed to represent its livery when in service. So I wonder if this new one is different again. I'm not buying yet another one to get the livery right!
  8. I see Rails have received their Limited Edition version of the Duchess, so Locomotion should have had theirs.
  9. An update from Locomotion would be useful, as they said they would be around from 13th November if I remember correctly.
  10. A "Big H" could even be a big Hush Hush! (Sorry if it has already been mentioned). They have the chassis and the tender already, so not to much new to produce. Oh dear, I've now joined in the guessing game.
  11. Thanks for that Rob. I wonder if the decoder is at fault, as the loco was already DCC fitted and the lights all worked and the direction was correct! All I did was unplug the decoder and insert the tts decoder in its place and now I only have lights in one direction, reverse. I've changed the cv29 value to reverse the polarity so it now responds to my controller (gaugemaster prodigy 2) but it shouldn't be necessary, which is why I wondered if I had put the decoder in the wrong way. Maybe I have unadvertantly moved some wires when I removed and reassembled the body. It now runs smoothly since I changed the cvs mentioned above, so I have achieved something. Still looking for an answer of how to get the lights to work in both directions. Regards, Paul.
  12. Hi all, I have just installed a Hornby Class 31 tts decoder in a Hornby super detail Class 31 using the article in this months H Magazine and, apart from the stutter mentioned above, it runs fine, except: it runs in reverse (i.e. the opposite direction to my controller) and the lights, both front and rear, only operate in one direction! My question is could I have fitted the decoder the wrong way round? I'm loathe to turn it round in case I blow it. I had this unfortunate experience last week when I fitted a decoder to a new Bachmann Midland Pullman and it started smoking. Thankfully it only fried the decoder as I switched DCC off as soon as I spotted it. Any help will be gratefully received. Paul.
  13. Shame they don't do Warships and Westerns!
  14. hi Rob, That's the most sensible explanation I've seen - well done! I have a question for you, though - would a loco DCC loco running 'unpredictably' on DC include running in the opposite direction? I have 'Duke of G' with TTS that runs in the right direction on DCC but the opposite direction to everything else on DC! My guess is that it was a Friday afternoon in China and the motor was wired the wrong way round. Will I have to remove the body and swap the wires round on the motor then add 1 to CV29 so I don't upset the DCC direction? I bought it new, so it hasn't been tampered with. Any help will be appreciated. Regards, Paul.
  15. Wow - I didn't think they were in the Country yet - I'm still waiting for mine from a well known retailer who hasn't even notified me that it has arrived in their stock. Have you had a chance to run it yet and advise on how good or bad the sound is?
  16. I don't seem to be getting anywhere with this - I guess I will just have to put up with a slippery radial!
  17. Tried that - it doesn't release it. That's where I don't want to force it in case something breaks. I'd like to hear from anybody that has actually removed the bogie (?Adams442T have you managed to remove the bogie to change the washer - see post#622 above, or 'to boldly go' at post #613?).
  18. There is, but you can't get to it because there is a piece of plastic(or metal) across the cylinders that covers it. I'm loathe to force it in case it breaks.
  19. This might seem a dumb question, but how do you detach the front bogie from the chassis? I have removed the body and the plastic chassis base plate, but cannot see how the front bogie can be removed so I can adjust the spring or remove/replace the washer. The Hornby service sheet doesn't help as it seems to be full of errors.
  20. I couldn't download it - every time I tried it took me to a 'game' involving a jet plane, and wouldn't allow me to decline playing the game.
  21. Hi Brian, I don't mind going public with my thoughts! I feel that it has lost the 'magic' it used to contain, it has got boring with too long individual posts. Our hobby has got more interesting over the years, but mremag doesn't seemed to have kept up. I participate in some of your polls, but I now tend to 'speed read' the rest of the content, very often switching off after only a couple of minutes. Perhaps RMWEB has evolved better with a more varied content by comparison. Regards, Paul.
  22. Phil has done a grand job keeping things going, but In my opinion it has never been the same since Pat retired. I used to have it as my home page so it was the first thing I read each morning, but not any more.
