  1. Yes, I was rather hoping for a first series early BR version as I understood from the original announcement that they had tooled up for all versions. Also rather upset that the blue livery version I ordered in January 2018 has now been delayed again - to December 2019! Don't they want to sell any?
  2. Hi Stuart, I've ordered a red frame 3440 City of Truro, but I also ordered a class 66 from you over a week ago but haven't received it yet - are they also affected by your delivery problem? Regards, Paul .
  3. I noticed that, too, but that is because they have set the value of CV 29 to 2. I always reset mine to a value of 38, which enables running on DC (no Sound),all speed steps and 4 digit addressing.
  4. The Austin 1100 must be a time traveller!
  5. Excuse my ignorance- what is a USP?
  6. I didn't say the lower the price, I just said that their prices were too high. Rolls Royce are a totally different ball game, but they did go broke about 40 years ago.
  7. Huge losses aren't necessarily due to low prices - it's more likely that the prices are too high and therefore they can't sell in sufficient quantities to make a profit.
  8. Never heard about that before - is this supposed to be a "neverwaser" post?
  9. I note that you said you fitted a tts class 60 into a Kestrel, which I assume is Heljan. Does it run ok, as I thought the 'experts' said you can't put a tts decoder in Heljan locos as they draw too much current?
  10. I have recently purchased a Hornby 9f Tts decoder and yes, opening up the loco found that the decoder socket is in the loco. To save lots of rewiring, are there any speakers, such as a sugar cube speaker, small enough to fit in the smoke box, which is completely empty?
  11. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but it seemed to start 'losing its way' when a certain marketing person rejoined the company.
  12. My 30096 DCC fitted arrived today and runs beautifully on DCC, but unfortunately it has reverse polarity on dc so it's going back to Kernow for a replacement. It also had a few bits (sandboxes) floating around in the box.
  13. I have a Bachmann A1 'Sea Eagle' fitted with sound that cuts out on points because there aren't any pick-ups on the tender (daft design?). I was thinking of fitting a 'stay alive' to it in an attempt to solve it. Can anybody advise how I should do this, I.e. What connections to use? I have also heard that DC should be disabled when fitting a 'stay alive' - why? Many thanks for any help. Paul F.
  14. I'm off to the USA for a holiday next month (May) and will be doing the 'circuit' - Nashville, Memphis, and New Orleans. We are hiring a car so will be pretty flexible. Any help with good model/ hobby shops in those areas would be appreciated. I am looking specially for HO locos, particularly Broadway Limited. Regards, Paul F.
  15. I wrote to Pec last year to ask them if they made or considered making their version (simplex?) with a plug in NEM fitting. They said no they didn't but would think about it. I am sure they would be very popular as I think they are much more convenient than any other couplings on the market.
  16. Excuse my ignorance - what's a 'CCU'?. Why not say the words?
  17. I have Gaugemaster Prodigy Advance2 and several Hornby sound locos including TTS. Apart from a Class 31 TTS decoder that I bought separately, they all operate ok. The class 31 went back to Hornby for a reblow and now works fine. Apparently a lot of class31 decoders sold separately were faulty and Hornby offered to reblow free of charge and refund postage.
  18. Shouldn't the topic be My new Addition..... Rather misleading as I thought from the title that Hornby had re-introduced this A4.

    TTS

I sent a Class 31 back to Hornby for a reblow and after returning it to me promptly I then received a cheque to cover my cost of postage to them.Excellent service! Thank you Hornby.
  20. Broadway Limited have a sound system that has been around for a couple of years called 'Rolling Thunder' that does just what you are describing, with treble sound coming from a decoder equipped loco which sends a signal to a unit under the layout with a sub-woofer for the bass sound.
  21. I'm tempted to buy a Hornby Class 47 Tts decoder for my Heljan 'Lion' but will it work ok or will it blow the chip?
  22. Let's see if those Bulleid coaches turn up in their announcement! ....and hopefully will be available sooner than the Bachmann ones.
