At last I have now had the opportunity to run my ‘hush hush’ loco. Not so much a hush though, more of a growl! It makes a horrendous noise going forward and cuts out frequently and shorts out on my controller. In reverse, however, it runs smoothly and silently. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem before it take it apart and/or complain to Hornby. Very disappointing although I was expecting something would be wrong after all the faults I’ve read on here. Any help will be gratefully received as I’d rather fix it than send it back.

I notice that the illustration of Bachmann’s latest Standard Class 5 release has early emblem but also is named - does anybody know whether it was named while still bearing the early emblem? I only ask as it was in the late 50s when I saw these locos on the Southern Main line and all the named ones had late crest by then.

Ok, I’ll bite - what sound decoder have you used? It sounds very similar to a Hornby Class 66 TTS that I fitted to my Bachmann 66.

Good old Hermes delivered my package today after a weeks delay and left it out in the pouring rain all day as I was out. Why do Hornby use this stupid company for deliveries? Our postman knows to leave packages with any neighbour, but you can’t communicate with Hermes. I’ll inspect it when I get back, but if it’s damaged in any way it’s going straight back to Hornby. Not bad after waiting two years. Not happy.

…….oh, and Hornby said it was ready for despatch last Tuesday.

The Hermes tracking for my W1 says it is still awaiting parcel from Hornby for the last 4 days. Anybody received theirs via Hermes yet?

Sorry, Andy, but on my older iPad (not the one I’m using now), I still get the privacy notice every time I change pages or refresh a page. Also history seems to be limited to about one hour and no facility to ‘load more’. All these problems, including the interfering adverts that also appear on my newish iPad Pro, all started in the last couple of weeks. Sorry if I keep complaining, but it gets so annoying that you get to the stage when you think it’s not worth trying to read it anymore. I’ve been a member for quite a number of years and have never experienced this kind of aggravation before. Like others, I want to continue enjoying this hobby! Regards, Paul.

I meant this complaint to apply to all forums, not just Hornby. I was distracted by even more adverts getting in the way of my screen.

I am finding the adverts on RMWeb getting really annoying. Do they have to pop up on every single page? Either that or I have picked up a virus.

I have just managed to fit sound to my new ‘Belgian Marine’ but have dislodged the loco’s brake gear. Try as I may, I cannot find a glue that will hold it in place again. So I’m pleading for help - has anybody successfully glued Hornby’s brake glue back on to the loco? Any help appreciated!

I had the exact same problem with a Hornby WC, and when I ran it with the body removed I could see the motor ‘arcing’ i.e. flashing, so I have purchased a replacement motor. Have you tied running it with the body off? You will soon see if the motor is faulty.

That’s just what I’ve been waiting for 20 years for Hornby, or someone else, to make. I thought when Hornby announced their new range of original ‘Merchant Navy’ locos they would include the first series locos, but no, apart from ‘as built’, which not many living people would remember seeing. Why didn’t Hornby include them? My Milholme kits that I built 30 odd years ago will have to last me for a few more years yet!

I’m not happy - just had an email from hattons to say my order for 35024 blue Merchant has been cancelled. What is it with Hornby? I ordered with Rails when it was announced years ago, that got cancelled because Rails had a bust up with Hornby, so I re-ordered with Hattons, now that’s gone as well. What is going on?

At last! I have just heard that the Bachmann Collector’s Club magazine includes an update, showing some castings and stating it is planned for release in 2021.

Yes, but it would be nice to get a statement from them.
