  1. Hi guys, Apologies for lack of input. I had an accident a couple of weeks ago to my right leg, combine this with a long standing (get it?) pain in my left leg has rendered me to sitting down much more than I'm used to. I have done a bit more on the 3 coaches for the breakdown train and once finished I'll post the results. I have not ran any trains in the meantime so the timetabled slot from 11am - Midday is next on the YouTube session once I can clamber up on the steps safely!
  2. Apologies got a couple of captions wrong on previous upload, try this one!
  3. HI all, Things seem to be back to sort of normal now and I have had the opportunity to upload episode 6 parts 1&2 featuring WTT movements between 10.00 and 11.00 with a couple of bonus views! https://studio.youtube.com/video/rRYocSQDAY8/edit I also seem to have taken on board how to add the link in the post thanks to Jukebox! Hope you enjoy guys.
  4. Hi all, Just a note to say still having some problems to deal with, I did attempt to film some movements on Sunday but found the a SDHC card was full. I had no intention of going out to queue for god knows how long to get one so have ordered a couple on ebay so hopefully will film again at the weekend. I have also ordered the bespoke transfers from Railtec to complete the breakdown train so that should feature over the next few weeks all being well. Good news is I finally got my 3 printers to work and now have a spare due to panic buying! I am really getting fed up with tech troubles!
  5. Apologies for delay in replying, I'm suffering tech problems due to a Windows 10 update myself. Sadly I'm not the person to help you access the videos as I can just about load them! Try searching 'Mikes Dent Station' or just 'Dent Station' see if that helps.
  6. Thanks Jukebox, I'll have a go at that hopefully at the weekend. Apologies only just seen this as technology has driven me suicidal these past few weeks as my printers have all apparently developed faults and following all manner of uploads, reboots, head scratching etc. I find there has been issues with a Windows 10 update and guess what - 'they are working toward a solution'. Regards Mike
  7. I would do Ade but embarrassingly I don't know how to. DOH
  8. Hi all, trains Just to let you know 2 more YouTube episodes have been uploaded today and feature WTT trains between 09.00 and 10.00. They are entitled Episode 7 and Episode 8. Hope you enjoy them. Had an electrical gremlin attack yesterday and had some rewiring issues on the control panel but all is well now. Still no sign of my transfers from Railtec so can't show the finished breakdown train as yet, I suppose they are inundated with most people having a lot of spare time presently.
  9. Apologies guys, the next session actually covers 08.00-09.00 and should be viewable tomorrow late on.
  10. I don't know if any of you guys have had the chance to look at my initial efforts on YouTube. If you search Dent Station there are 4 episodes to date with the first being entitled 'Dent Station Introduction' and the other just start 'Episode'. The next filming session will cover 09.00 - 10.00 with a nice selection of freight workings. I was hoping to show the completed breakdown train by now but have not finished the transfers as yet, I have emailed Steve at Railtec Transfers to supply some specials but still awaiting a reply so you shall have to be patient.
  11. Many thanks for your kind comments, glad you enjoyed the article. I have been filming trains for this weekend and setting up others for the following week. I may get better at this filming malarkey with time but it does take up much more time than I initially anticipated - but fun none the less.
  12. Hi James, I know the problems well, this hobby is more akin to a full time job than anything like a relaxing hobby. I had an electrical fault which I was tracing for a while only to find the D-Sub connector was not connected! DOH!!! P.S. The 1S68 headcode is for the northbound Thames-Clyde Express.
  13. Hi Steve, I'll look forward to seeing your interpretation, as you are probably aware my storage roads started underneath but proved problematic so I wish you good luck. If there is any information you need which I may be able to help with just ask! Best wishes.
  14. Hi Tony, Thanks for the observation. I did think about this but just a couple of shots of a train means I have to keep setting up different trains just for a 5 or 10 second clip which sort of defeats the object as it was meant to to give me some operating potential where I can actually run some trains, in fact the train just runs the full circuit perhaps 5 or 6 times and is filmed at various points to allow the viewer a different view. I'll try to polish it a bit in episode 4 as episode 3 is well underway. Thanks again, feedback is appreciated.
  15. Hi Steve, In the following hour it seems the opposite are they are all 'UP' trains - very strange indeed. Have you featured your layout in layout topics?
  16. Cheers Steve, I have been compiling part 3 today, it's much more difficult than I anticipated but quite enjoyable as I actually run some trains which I tend not to do when I'm on my own.
  17. Hi all, Just a quick note to say I have uploaded a couple of videos of the layout to YouTube, the first is a basic introduction followed by a run through an actual summer Working Time Table (WTT) from the 1960's starting at 06.00 through to 06.59. I am planning and hoping to produce a one hour WTT segment each week but please be patient as its all new to me and I'm no Cecil B DeMille. Each train is formed to represent an actual working and a loco is chosen to match the WTT requirements as close as possible, some of the information is based on actual records taken and if for instance an actual Black 5 say 44688 is noted then I will substitute an equivalent from my loco stock and hopefully I will have enough to complete the full sequence from 06.00 through to 22.00 The return workings are based on reasonable calculations for loco turnaround in real time and in an attempt to balance the roster. You can find the current two videos on YouTube under: Dent Station - Introduction Dent Station - Episode 2 I will be compiling Episode 3 for next weekend all being well. Please let me know what you think.
  18. Hi Terry, Thanks for your kind comments, you are more than welcome. I hope you enjoy the topic and follow the progress which is a bit slow at the moment I'm afraid however if you read the following post there is a new angle!
  19. I honestly have no idea, it was definitely an overnight service and recall having to change my position (i.e. to face front) at all these locations, most annoying. The Wakefield stop has puzzled me but I definitely recall it. I can say it would have been a Sunday night - Monday morning service as I was on one of my full weekend trainspotting trips around all the stations and sheds in the capital spending Saturday night roughing it in a small platform room on the suburban side of Paddington station which was almost deserted through the night. Train would arrive at Glasgow about 06.30 which gave me time to get straight to St.Rollox Works where I had a shower and a change of clothes ready and waiting. I did a lot of Western region bashing back then as I just loved the hydraulics, the privilege ticket and free pass were very well battered back then.
  20. Hi all, Just browsing and came across this topic. On my Dent layout I have cheated a bit, the Thames-Clyde runs in both Up and Down directions with coach headboards saying 'Thames-Clyde Express' 'St.Pancras-Glasgow' then on the opposite side of the coaches the headboards say 'The Waverley' 'St.Pancras-Edinburgh'. Therefore I can easily use the crossover for one train but have to physically turn the stock to run as the other. I am still trying to find evidence of the destination boards e.g 'St.Pancras-Glasgow' being provided as 'Glasgow-St.Pancras' but no joy as yet. I do recall an overnight journey from St.Pancras to Glasgow back in the 1970's which took about 11 hours and reversed at Nottingham, Wakefield and Leeds, with all the changes in direction I had no idea where I was at times!
  21. Hi all, My mate Andy put me on to this treasure of a topic, fabulous photos which really jog the old grey matter. I was born in Glasgow and lived on the south west side until 1972 and although I did see the odd Deltic in Queen St. Station on rare occasions it was very much the order of the day to travel to Edinburgh to cop those wonderful machines. At about the age of 14 or 15 one lovely summer day without any thought other than copping some elusive Deltics I boarded my trusty bike and cycled to Edinburgh via the quieter roads, I decided to head for St.Margarets shed first where you had to cross the main line via a simple red/green indication lamp system due to the proximity of Calton tunnel, I started crossing on a green light then got distracted by a roar only to realise I was in its path! D9000 was charging south as I charged off the crossing to safety. Luckily no one saw what an idiot I was other than the train crew. I then went to Waverley Station for a while followed by the main event - Haymarket MPD. Deltic's galore! I can't honestly remember how many but at least 7 or 8. I had no trouble getting round the depots and as the day drew on I decided to make for home. I arrived back about 11pm with my parents beside themselves with worry, we were not on the phone so could not let them know I was okay. I was given the third degree and my dad completely disbelieved my story, more chastisement followed then I was sent to my room (not really a punishment it was full with a model railway). My dad then ransacked my saddlebag and I heard him say to my mother 'that little sod's been telling the truth, look at the entries in his spotting book'. I had no idea how far I had cycled until I got a car at 18 and travelled the same route to find it was 55 miles each way! No wonder I had a sore you know what. I don't have many photos of Deltics sadly but here are a few from those early days, please excuse the quality - cheap camera - cheap film and scanned from old prints! D9021. A common sight at Haymarket at this spot outside the shed was a Deltic with the nose doors open! D9006. During Haymarket's rebuilding a Deltic could often be found nudging out at this rebuilt shed building. Same day as above photo with demolition going on two Deltics brighten the scene. D9000. The one that nearly had me! Ready for the off 9017 awaits its next turn. BRC&W Type 2 D5306 keeps company. I was not keen on the demise of the 'D' prefix, I was even less keen on the introduction of telephone numbers, sorry TOPS. Same day from the opposite side 9017 sits in the sun. Thanks for bringing back some treasured memories.
  22. Many thanks Peter glad you enjoyed it. Haven't heard from Andy for a while is he okay?
  23. Many thanks Jools, I am so chuffed - so to speak. Andy really has done me proud.
  24. Hi all, Thoroughly enjoyable 'exhibition' with far more layouts than even Warley for instance! I had made the effort to carry out my very first 'movie' of DENT and post it here this morning, I shot several trains rumbling through for a while yesterday afternoon then spent the last few hours of yesterday searching for the the camcorder charging/transfer cable and totally failed. I got up this morning having had a disturbed sleep and waking with thoughts of 'perhaps I put it there' etc. So this morning I spent another 3 hours searching - I kid you not - and still it remains a mystery. I even searched through my collection of redundant chargers but none had the same fitting as the camera, so if anyone has a spare JVC lead I'll buy it of you! I had a very quick browse through the quiz and did quite well with the first 3 or 4 sections but it was all downhill after that. Well done to Andy and the team for an entertaining day. The final BR Sulzer Type 2 heads a ballast working through DENT. Cheers guys, stay safe.
  25. Hi all, Here is a selection of photos taken by AY for the current issue of BRM featuring my layout 'DENT STATION' these were not published but certainly deserve an outing.
