Please all, dont get me wrong, but if a supplier gives you a guaranteed pre order price of £76 then thats what it should be, the key word here is guaranteed. Not to send out an email saying we demand £24 more ! The supplier has to take it on the chin if they say these things, if they and the supplier have a difference of opinion over prices tough!, NOT to pass it on to the customer. I have now lost faith with the supplier, which is a shame as I have purchased from them for years now and always thought that they were genuine, but alas the are not, they are in the leauge of all the other money grabbing establishments out there! End of rant, sorry chaps but had to be said.

Ordered mine when first announced at £76.00 now today £94.00 they are taking the P1ss!
  3. Andy, I have slowed down the video to frame by frame and the leading driving wheel (on the 2nd pass) actually lifts as it passes through the frog of the point, this is probably the point or simple B2B adjustment on the loco and as you say further testing will prevail. It certainly looks like the locos will be good 'uns' !
  4. What is that 'clunk' when the loco runs through the point nearest to the camera ? Floating bogie wheels, B2B, or coupling fouling ?
  5. Certainly looks a good model and looking forward to receiving my two that are on order :-) However I am concerned about the choice of coreless motors` have large DC layout with feedback controllers and have been warned before about their use, I am sure I cant be in the minority here using feedback and DC control there must be other modellers wondering if the new locos will work or not. If you read this Dave I have Trax controllers which I have found to be superior to the gaugemaster ones we had previously, Hope the O2's like them ! Jim
  6. DJM Dave, you say a coreless motor, will that work on feedback controllers DC ?? thanks for the update Jim

I totally agree with this observation, I have two of the 56XX tanks with this trailing axle arrangement and when running bunker first derail at every opportunity on point work, I to have had to insert shims to give the locos the ability to stay on the track. Bachmann please, please, please, do not spoil this wonderful new model with such a poor trailing axle arrangement. Lets have a lightly sprung pony truck instead. Its all very well having a first class looking locomotive, but it needs to run without derailing and not just be a loco shed display item.
  8. Interestingly, Swindon 82C had a sub shed or stabling point at Andover Junc. This was part of the Swindon Marlborough and Andover Railway, which survived until 1958. in 1948 Swindon had an allocation of 3 Dukedogs 9011-9018 and 9023, they were still there in1952, and in 1955 two remained 9011 and 9023. One can only assume that these locos run this line until closure and they must have been seen at Andover during those years. Now there is an excuse to run them alongside Bulleid Pacifics ! (allocations taken from Jim Grindlay Modelmaster Publication) Has anyone seen an image of one on this line ?
  9. Resolved, spoken to Bachmann today and they have explained the mysterious brackets, they are as outlined in the above posts brackets that hang down alongside the vac hoses. They cannot be fitted if you use the coupling. I have managed to fit the vac hoses onto mine without any trouble. Job sorted !
  10. So, has anyone found out where the two upright brackets are fitted to the wagon yet ? They look as if they should go against the tool box to hold the shunters poles ? cheers Jim
  11. thanks Rich, I am assuming underneath the tender ? cheers Jim
  12. Have to add that it could not haul much, so made the suggested modifications ie washers to drawbar and remove front bogie spring and things have improved. Good suggestion John.
  13. Hi Everyone, my weathered Dukedog arrived yesterday, very pleased with it, still looking for an excuse for the Andover great western shed loco to make a trip to Salisbury on a coal train Can anyone tell me what these bits are for in the extras bag ? many thanks
  14. Thanks very much, off to get a mug of tea and to have a read through and gain some confidence to do the job!
  15. Gwiwer, really first class weathering, do please enlighten me how it was done, I have a Thumper on its way to me (hopefully), have tried some basic weathering using powders but have not had the courage to varnish over it yet! Would really like to do the model like yours ? Any hints would be welcome, perhaps on another thread? Jim

Olddudders its not featured as I have not got round to doing it, the layout is very much still work in progress and todays high quality digital photographs show up every small fault in the layout building, so have been reluctant to show them. Having been a member for some considerable time now of the wonderful forum, I have not posted 'up' too many items. I'm not even sure where I would post the layout feature ?

Have I got this right ? The buffers on the Olive models have flat tops and bottoms and oval ends , the BR versions are pure oval. Is this correct ?

My vote for this as well !
  21. Got my BR version today, very nice model, just needs a bit of weathering now, anyone know where the bag of bits that come with it go ? 6 pieces in all. No info in the box.
  22. Thanks for info, yes I was wondering if the model had been changed in any way rather than the history, albeit interesting, have to put it down to Liverpool 'English'
  23. Hi All, R4534 is showing on Hattons site as Hornby Model Railways R4534 BR Maunsell Pull Push Pack. 2 coaches with modification for use with an M7 loco. Due 2nd Qtr.......... Anyone know what the 'modification' is so it can be used with an M7 ?? thanks Jim
