Any chance of a track plan?
-
If I'm being hyper critical, the only thing I would say is that the ridge tiles' apex are not sharply defined enough, but that is the cruel nature of close up photography. I've been following your posts since the previous layout and have to say that your work is of a very high standard indeed.

You might get more answers if you asked this in the modelling-questions-help-and-tips/ section

If the boards are to scale from the red box drawn above they would be approx 32 feet long. Me thinks some inevitable compression is in order for SAC.

No problem, I hope you find it usefull. Perhaps someone else will come along and tell us how to do it properly? Paul.
Any heating above a low red heat will anneal brass. The faster you cool it down from hot (ie. quench with eg. water), the more completely it anneals.
Other types of metal/alloy (eg. steels) will harden on quenching but not brass.
The one exception (as there's always at least one) its Muntz metal(60Cu/40Zn) but this is rarely used in modelmaking.

Post some pictures?

In my book pictures are an essential, as to use an oft quoted phrase, they paint a thousand words. I'm liking the sweeping lines and feeling of space you seem to be achieving. Keep it up and keep the jpegs flowing.
ps No idea bout the use of white lines in 35, you could always ask Grandmaster Flash

Would you care to elaborate further on your split chassis method?

Marvellous, something I have never seen modelled before. There's just something about big sheds that impress.

I think they look great. Maybe a bit of toning down with some powders, but as you say they are 'incomplete'. A fabulous first effort.

All engines REQUIRING to enter the shed must be brought to a stand at this BOARD.

Absolutely firkin Marvellous Missy.
I've been a lurker for a while and have followed your Blog and previous incarnatory thread attentively, and am still in awe of the detail that can be achieved on a wagon of approximately an inch in length. Never mind the rest of the wonderful gubbins on Highclere.
