Some photos of Edmondtorpe and Wymondham, long after closure. This station was on the Midland Railway's line from Saxby Junction to Bourne, where it met the M&GN. Regarding my Talyllyn photos today, post 8901. William McConnel formed the Aberdovey Slate Quarry Company in 1864 which then leased the land including Bryn Eglws Quarry. Later that year he was able to start construction of the Talyllyn Railway from the quarry to Tywyn. He managed to obtain an exemption from the 1889 Regulation of Railways Act which stated that passenger trains had to be fitted with continuous brakes, on the ground that speeds were low and the cost would bankrupt his company. By the late 1990s the Railway Inspectorate insisted that the Talyllyn Railway should comply with the act. The last locomotive was fitted with air brake equipment to provide train braking in 2001. 45596 Bahamas was indeed at Dinting at one time and is now based on the KWVR. It is of course listed in the ARPS Year Book and Steam Guide for 1974, as are the ones below. Remember that Dinting was the headquarters of the Bahamas Locomotive Society for many years. The Beyer Peacock 0-4-0VB tram engine was also there. Also on site was an ex BR Mk 1 BSK No 34460 along with an MSCR open wagon 6115 (not sure what those initials stand for). SR Schools Class 30925 was also there from 1972 for some time. Photos on a dull wet day at Aarau in Switzerland for today. Plus one from Arth Goldau. Arth Goldau 30th July 88 C9805 A Sudostbahn pendelzug (push pull) has just uncoupled from an SBB pendelzug. They had worked together from Luzern to Arth Goldau. From there the SBB set went to Goschenen and the SOB set to Romanshorn. This was to reduce occupation of the single line section for much of the route from Luzern to ArthGoldau.
