  1. A bit like the IET at PAD this morning.
  2. That was to serve the creamery at that stage wasnt it, passenger traffic having finished, but the creamery was closed before the M5 opened
  3. So would you have the train running around all day with the carriage locked out? Cancelling it and having it cleaned was probably the least worst option. Probably not able to split the train and send the burffed part for cleaning and the clean part to Chessie due to no driver, no paths etc available for the ECS.
  4. At times Passengers can get the information quicker than the staff.
  5. That looks fine for the 'sunny day' shade of green, as you say it varies depending on the light so I wouldnt worry about it.
  6. Probably only because we are slightly more trustworthy than the auto stuff at the moment, or if you are a true blue cynic, it is to try and catch us out, the autostuff is in place (it is at the electric to diesel locations) but only there to do its job if we forget, I assume it then sends a signal to Hitachi that it has had to lower the pan because the FESW* has forgotten so they can inform GWR to invite the driver in for a meeting without tea and biscuits. Steventon has changed again, now we leave the pan up but have to reduce speed to 110, so no more whoresdrawers with the pan, or at least thats what it was last time I was up that way 4 months ago. * FESW is Front End Seat Warmer, a phrase used by a now deceased fat Old Oak fitter who hated drivers, RIP Neil.
  7. Jeez, I thought I was cynical. I absolutely agree 100% with you and it was my first thought after hearing the announcement that they would cancel a bit now that wasnt due to be built for 10 years or so (and hasnt had any money spent on it yet) so they can be seen to be doing something, then in 4 years time (just before the next General Election) announce a 'Northern' project to connect Leeds, York and Doncaster to the New HS2 to improve connectivity with the South.

  9. On GWR the drivers do all the traction change overs because they trust us slightly more than the trust the automatic stuff at the moment.
  10. The first picture is a Long (loop at 90 degrees), the second picture is a short loop in line).
  11. You were right but now you are wrong. The one pictured is a short swing link because the bottom loop is in line with the coach, the LSL ones have had the metal stirrup replaced with a wire loop but the bottom loop is at 90 degrees to the coach re-using the peg which went through the stirrup.
  12. Somebody posted 'proof' that LSL are buying the repainted EC HST by posting a picture of the LSL on the end, he wouldnt have it that it stood for Long Swing link.
  13. If that is in the repair book it doesnt mean it was failed, just that it needed looking at when convenient, if it wasnt put in the book then how would the fitters know to look at it? Of course that has been cured now by not putting repair books in cabs so any defect report has to go through the on line systems but as we are not allowed our tablets/ phones on it the cab we cant make a quick report at a station stop.
  14. Still occurs to this day, had it on a HST leaving Taunton RA to Reading, all the way with the leading PC revving but no amps, arranged for a TRI to meet the train at Reading, picked him up and on as soon as I set off the amps returned, bloody typical. He did find the problem which was the contactors on the reverser sticking because they were out of alignment.
  15. A few years ago there was a ScotRail 170 which hit the blocks (Edinburgh?) and the cause was put down to the contacts in CPBC were found to be gummed up with tea and coffee.
  16. I thought it was a microwave oven!
  17. Common sense has no place in law, it either is or isnt illegal. On another note, does common sense exist anymore because it certainly doesnt seem that common?
  18. You mean the one who has already been done and found guilty for 2 machete attack and a rape? I do like the way his defence said the Police Officer should be charged with using unnecessary force (his tazer) and had been very heavy handed with her client.
  19. I have just gone onto the Hornby site and it is now showing £89.99, how odd. Its not excluding VAT because that would be £74,99.
  20. 29/05/01 57601, 9493, 6202, 5740, 5679, 6722, 3255 25/09/01 47709, 3232, 6721, 5631, 6203, 5700, 5710, 9492 57601, 3255, 6720, 6212, 5679, 6221, 6200, 9494 01/02/03 47811, 3255, 6721, 5737, 5740, 5631, 5669, 5632, 9490, 47815
  21. Simple things like a wiper defect to complete engine, generator, alternator failure and everything in between.
  22. I am sure Hornby will clarify the situation before the release date which is 11 months away.
