  1. I have ordered some warm white and yellow LED lights. Which do you think is closest to replicating the incandescent bulbs of the 1960's ? I remember most lighting of the time to be quite yellow ; house lights, industrial lights and most street lights had a strong yellow tinge.
  2. Layouts4U have coloured light signals at reasonable prices: https://www.layouts4u.net/oo-scale-lighting/oo-signals-traffic-lights/
  3. If anybody prints these out in ABS or PLA using a filament printer then I would love to see the results to compare them with the resin printer.
  4. Who makes yard lamps suitable for a 1960's/70's shunting yard or industrial area ? I would like them to be more on the yellow side than LED bright white. That is how I remember most industrial lighting of the time. These do not look too bad but they are probably too white for my purpose. I may buy them if nobody can suggest a suitable alternative. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/302675681381
  5. I would really like to see how people have joined their wooden legs to the plywood top. I am using some 19mm ply that I have on hand and I have a pile of timber that is 35X90mm for the legs. I will brace under the plywood top with the 35X70mm pine I bought today. I already have a few ideas about legs but I would like to see what other people have done. The plywood top is only 50cm wide and is in three sections, each 1.2metres long. I intend using screw-in levelling feet. Any photos would be much appreciated.
  6. I will be buying a Hornby Sentinel shunter soon and I would like to install DC lighting. (I have never done this before.) Would shunters have had red lights on the rear of the loco only or would they have both white and red at both ends which would change colour according to direction ?
  7. Can you post a close-up photo of your points after all the scenic work was done please ?
  8. I read earlier that you are using resin for your 3D printing. Do you think you would get the same quality using PLA or ABS with a 0.2mm nozzle ?
  9. Yes, I did not think Tinkercad was capable of this either. I have joined and taken the introductory lessons but I am no closer to producing work such as the above !
  10. I agree ; this is great work. It makes me think twice about resin printing as I can really see how good it is. I do not think you can get that quality of brickwork with filament printing...or can you ?
  11. The quality of your resin prints are superb (as is your painting and weathering techniques). I was thinking of buying a 3D filament printer because I was put off by the cost, smell and toxicity of resin. But looking at what you have produced, I don't think PLA or ABS filament would could possibly give such excellent results, especially the brickwork. Can you tell me how much resin you use to print some of those buildings ?
  12. It would seem that Anycubic do not make smaller extruder nozzles. They only make the 0.4mm but I want to buy 0.3mm and 0.2mm nozzles. Has anybody tried to fit generic nozzles to the Anycubic printers ? https://www.anycubic.com/collections/parts-accessories https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/5pcs-AU-0-2-1-0-mm-MK8-Extruder-Nozzle-Print-Head-For-1-75mm-3D-Printer/202968418861?hash=item2f41dc4a2d:m:mj5C5M9mj8v5ltYT7p0VnCA&frcectupt=true This French company can supply a set of nozzles : https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/X8-Nozzle-Nozzle-Extruder-Anycubic-3D-Printer-4Max-pro-Printer-3D-0-2-0-8mm/383058757980?hash=item593014c95c:g:XqEAAOSw7fhblf3S&frcectupt=true
  13. I called Microsoft help desk. The lady took over my computer by remote assistance and performed a number of tasks including updating driver software. Strangely, there was no record of that Windows 10 update from a few days ago so we are not sure what happened with that ? Anyway, I will wait and see if the changes she made will make any difference. NOTE : she pointed out that I had not cleared out my temporary files for quite a while either. This was something I used to do every week but for some reason I had completely forgotten about it : run %temp% .
  14. 1. Build number : what does that mean ? 2. I was not aware the Microsoft had a help desk. I just checked now and I think the number is 13 20 58 in Australia. I will give them a try tomorrow.
  15. I think a lot depends on immunity : are you immune if you have recovered from Covid-19 and, if so, for how long ? I am a bit puzzled that nobody still has a definitive answer to this. It will have a lot of influence on how society reacts and changes. I think we can forget about a vaccine ; I put that in the same category as waiting for Godot ! Silver linings : 1. The end of Trump 2. An increase in the number of people modelling railways for a hobby.
  16. I tried running gpedit.msc but that file is not found.
  17. It only closes the websites I am looking at (they are listed across top of the screen) : the computer stays on. I always run my laptop from mains power. Examples of usual websites that may be open at same time : RMWEB, Ebay, ABC News, BOM weather, The Guardian, Cairns TV Guide, IMDB.
  18. My HP laptop computer did an automatic Windows 10 update 2 days ago and now my computer keeps closing all the windows/programs every few hours. What can I do to stop this ? I have googled this and it seems to be a common problem but nobody has any good fix for it. I only have about six windows open at a time and nothing is very big or using much CPU. It was not a big problem before as it only happened a few times per month. NOTE : Windows 10 updates automatically ; it cannot be stopped, only postponed for a day or so. It is a very annoying feature of Windows 10 !
  19. I was hoping to build wagons but in ''kit'' form ie. build them in parts to be assembled. So this would do the job much better ? https://www.3dprintingsupplier.com.au/product/anycubic-photon/ The Elegoo Mars does not seem to be available in Australia at the moment. Resin would appear to be very toxic. Is it worse than acetone (used for smoothing ABS) ?
  20. I am thinking of purchasing the ANYCUBIC Mega S 3D printer. I live in Cairns, Australia. I have already downloaded the necessary software : Ultimaker Cura 4.6. Has anybody bought and used this printer/software combination ? Note : I work in OO gauge. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AU-Stock-ANYCUBIC-Mega-S-Upgrade-3D-Printer-with-Extruder-Ultrabase-PLA-TPU-ABS/264114405773?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
  21. In Australia, bottle shops have been classified as ''essential to society'' and are to remain open. I was very surprised at this. Is it the same in the UK ?
  22. Just eat cheese ; then you will not need toilet paper for a long time !
  23. What is that strange ''sheep'' noise supposed to represent ?
  24. Water carrier ? Carrying water from where to where ?
  25. I would buy a whole set of adaptors like this set on ebay Aust. There should be something similar on ebay UK : search for ''airbrush adaptor set''. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/9Pcs-Airbrush-Adaptor-Kit-Fitting-Connector-Set-for-Compressor-Airbrush-Hose/153614559394?hash=item23c42428a2:g:gPIAAOSw5CddX0v2&frcectupt=true
