Watching the covering of HM Queen's funeral, I noted one comment that the coffin of King George VI was conveyed from London to Windsor by train.

I feel very sorry for those who's journeys were disrupted or even thwarted.

  Alas I doubt if it would still be possible to take the late sovereign by train from London to Windsor. I would be amazed if NR could actually manage the necessary planned track layout alterations required at the ex GWR station within a week.

  Security matters too. Bullet proof motors etc and many armed Police and Special Forces able to roam the route and use Drones & Phones. Plus, of course, the modern fur baby people that have no Brain Cells.

  As the tv showed coppers about every 20 yards on much of teh road route fro Wellington Arx ch to Windsor I doubt if the security problems by road are much different from that by rail. But rail in any case wouldn't be the best way of approaching the Long Walk and that entrance to the castle grounds.
