    Many thanks Mark.

Was one of the most asked questions at the weekend - “where’s the driver in the 08!” I did experiment having a figure clinging to the front steps of the 08 too…then found it wouldn’t pass through the apertures to the Fiddleyard 🙄

I have a steam roller on my layout, without driver or steerage chain.  If I get asked where the chain is, I say "the driver has gone to look for it"

  2. Sounds like you've had the same problem as me, with the cranks actually splitting and loosing their grip. Mine were a very tight fit and certainly didn't need any Loctite assistance!

A quick call/email to Neil Sayer is the way to go, he is very helpful, and quickly sent me some replacement cranks.

    Cheers, Dave.

  3. Hi Lisa,

I've only just seen this entry, (I don't look at the Blog section very often) but I must thank you for your kind comments about Bridport Town; I'm very touched.

Having had an attempt at getting to grips with high-tech DCC myself, I had come to the conclusion that its too complicated, and theres far too much to go wrong.  It comes into its own on large complex multi-operator layouts, as thats what its designed for, but its an unneccessary complication on a small terminus-fiddle yard.

I'm a great believer in rugged reliability, and this often comes with the low-tech, mechanical approach.  Apart from a few point-motors, theres no electronics on Bridport.  The 2-controller cab-control wiring is a bit complicated, but I've decided we can live with it!

Bridport is out again at High Wycombe this weekend, and then Trainwest in April.  Trying to work on some rolling stock in the meantime.

All the best, and thanks again,

    Dave.

  4. Hi Invercloy,

Good to see you back on RMweb, and the layout is looking stunning. You would never know that the stock was from three different sources/modellers, it all "fits" the layout perfectly.

I will try to keep up with your postings, but I have to admit I don't often venture into the blogs section.

    All the best,

    Dave.T

  5. Its becoming clear that plenty of us ARE reading/following your construction, please keep it up!

I'm interested as I regularly used the Bournemouth Electrics in the 1970s, in particular the 92 service, to and from my Boarding School in Christchurch. I can probably still recite the timetable.

Like some others I find the blogs awkward to follow, as a reader I'm interested to see what comments others have made. I prefer the forum and threads section, as I find things easier to browse, and they have a read counter at the side

    All the best,

    Dave.T
