    Last time I passed there was a very large log/tree trunk across the siding to discourage drivers. The line was concreted to allow tractors to pull or push wagons along it. You may be interested to know that the mill has been completely removed, the river reinstated and the area undergone an award-winning "Regeneration". Some interesting articles HERE including an aerial film of the location. Looks like a lot of the internal rail sidings are still there.

    I am constantly in admiration of the work that goes into the L&B coach restoration/construction, A stunning example of classic coachwork.

    "Only 12-percent of ticket sales"??? 12 percent must represent a HUGE number of ticket sales! If it was 1.2-percent then i could understand this. The whole affair is looking more and more like a deliberate PR stunt, cooked up to try and make the Tories look good, look like "The Peoples Friend" when they are anything but!

    I used to work in an establishment that carried out research in this area, and results consistently showed this. As you say its not rocket science. But everywhere you look the opposite is happening. Then employers complain there are staff-shortages, poor service, strikes etc!

    That pretty much sums it up. Plus of course that the money "saved" (if any) might be spent on projects in northern marginal constituencies, at some unspecified time in the future. PS, I'm so angry I can hardly rationalise anything.

    I use Stinkyink as the HP cartridges for my printer cost a fortune. Can't see any difference, but I'm not doing lots of glossy photo-prints.

    But the whole point of HS2 is long distance high speed travel, separate from local transport. Putting stopping services on it would defeat the object. Wouldn't it?

    I do like to see "before" and "after" photos.

    Tried out the Halfords matt and satin lacquers, and ... they look exactly the same! Close examination under a strong light shows a VERY slight, almost insignificant difference in the finish. I've used Halfords matt and satin black sprays quite a lot, and expected these to match. The finish of the lacquers is somewhere between the two. I will carry on using them as they spray very well, and the finish is actually very good. Thanks for the advice, I will be checking others out. Cheers, Dave.

    Many thanks for the advice folks. I picked up some Halfords cans yesterday, on my way back from the Culm Valley show. I will report back shortly.

    Please can anyone recommend a decent spraycan varnish? Matt or satin? Some time ago someone mentioned Halfords, but all I can find there is gloss lacquer.

    I see this experience is very recent. Often it takes an exhibition outing to show up any issues with a new layout; such as sudden dead spots, or "it worked fine at home" moments, we've all had them! I hope your loco will survive, and it hasn't discouraged you from exhibiting. Best wishes, Dave.T
