  1. They go on short freight workings about 10 or 20 miles away from Plattling taking about between 2 to 10 wagons at a time. This timetable http://www.cargonautus.de/Passau.htm gives the shunter workings (they are class 293/294), then you can search google maps to see whereabouts the places are.
  2. are European intermodal freights the same length as British intermodals, or longer?

  4. It's the same for me. Internet explorer gives a red cross, but firefox works fine with it. You can download firefox at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html scroll down to British version and enjoy!
  5. Just search on google maps, and click the maps icon for place names etc http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=olten&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=14.985334,39.506836&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Olten,+Canton+of+Solothurn,+Switzerland&ll=47.353769,7.903075&spn=0.016747,0.054932&t=k&z=15

  7. I'm still watching, but I watch Olten webcam more (although there are no Taurus locomotives there, you do get about 4 freight every 10 minutes). Plattling seems less busy than before Christmas too, but I just saw this and don't recognise the livery
  8. I wonder if the owner/maintainer of Plattling webcam could be emailed and asked to turn the night-vision option off? It is off at the moment and it looks so much clearer.

  10. Since the timetable change there seems to be more multi-coloured locomotives through Plattling? Rather than the mainly red ones before last week I'm not sure what locomotive this is. It looks sort of like that Porsche livery, but then it's not a Taurus, so I don't know
  11. the plattling webcam site is still not working for me. Is it the same for everyone else too?
  12. I can't get the website or the deg.net archive section to work at the moment is it the same for everyone else? I haven't got the website to load since 3 this afternoon? (now 8:30)
  13. Thanks for the information. I've never seen a 189 at Plattling before!
  14. Is this a class 189? I haven't seen one of these at Plattling before also double headed freight is quite rare as well
  15. Do you know what happens to be the normal traction for these movements? Also have yourself or any others found that the timetable link on the first page is accurate: are there any more interesting freights to watch out for or is it just 'take your chances'?
  16. I have seen 2 black locomotives today. and I saw this go through just now, but it didn't stop. I have been reading timetables and would this be Altona-Hamburg to somewhere I can't remember?
  17. Google says Plattling will be -19C overnight
  18. it's so much better with the daylight mode on. but it seems to alternate between the two at the moment? I wonder if it would be better off permanently on daytime mode?
  19. the temperature gauge on the webcam seems to be about +5C too high, as if you type in "plattling weather" into google, it says the current temperature is 0C
  20. thanks for the info 87029! from Tuesday onward it is forecast for some snow in Plattling. Hopefully we can watch snow falling out of the window here in the U.K. then turn on the Plattling webcam to watch it snowing there
  21. Here are two images from this week I saw. The first was traveling toward the webcam and didn't stop at Plattling. I missed off the front, but it was 2 carriages and the red locomotive the second image was from this morning. I have never seen the yellow thing before. Is it a departmental vehicle?
  22. could anyone tell me what these two are? I've not seen any in this livery at Plattling before. actually I now see they same locomotives are on page 1 of this thread!
  23. Good to see this thread back and I love the photo of 43091.
