They are along with quite a few retailers although not mine yet. The cynical me might suggest the timing of these corresponds with the Rapido release due.

I'm happy to wait for Rapido's offering. Rapido's are going to be worth the wait... :)

Thats why I ordered via Rails (as with the rest of the KR stuff).

i want it, but not at my peril.

I ‘Fell’ over my self and learned that lesson.

    😀

Off topic but this what I've been thinking might be the best route for me as well when it comes to the Big Bertha and the future GWR MICA Vans...

  3. I will be slamming my debit card down for one GWR example as soon as my supplier gets them!! I may only know 1501 during it's preservation years but that GWR livery is just as perfect!!

Sure it's a what if livery but I've always found it a pity that the 1500's were too late to receive GWR green unlike the Hawksworth Coach stock.

I think there is probably evidence of them being used both ways out there. However, I believe that the most common usage would have been in larger numbers grouped together as where traffic justified the use of one wagon, the chances are that there was enough stuff to shift to justify the use of many (ship arriving at port and offloading huge quantities for example)

As @Edge says it varied on the location in question. I have seen photos of either single or several MICA to varying diagrams in goods trains or in goods yards. I suspect you'd find the larger rakes of GWR MICA around London owing the markets. Outside London it would vary.

1741 definitely had top feed (and of course not side feed at the same time) see (again a linked picture)

    1741 Maunsell D1 Class Ramsgate 9th July 1939

Thanks all. With that in mind and the photo from @Graham_Muz of 1741 I will look at getting the two side feeds removed at somepoint in the future.

Now how long can I resist ordering a 31487 for re-livery into SR Wartime Black livery...?

Another update by Rails, posted today. They are expecting the D1s to arrive with them at the end of this week and will start to.process pre order payments.

The temptation to put an order on for a third with Sunshine lettering is sheer hell...!!

  7. Question for you all, at the Bristol Harbour Railway, they have a GWR 5 Plank Open that is in PBA livery and bearing the number 61110. Owing to the similarities between O11/O18, could anyone identify what diagram 61110 would come under please? Also is it still at Bristol? Last time I visited in 2022, I couldn't see it.

If anyone wants any more Rapido GWR iron minks and 4-plankers, then check out the current sale on at Hattons. They’ve a load of them available with about 30% off.

Some Dapol Moguls & Manors at decent prices too.

My wallet can’t take any more punishment as we’ve just had a big birthday in the family! Oh dear.

    Jason,

The class 40 is a good start, but the the Mica is , IMHO, marginal. Others of the newer entrants have started in wagons with something that shares a chassis with many prototypes and gradually expanded to the other items on the same chassis. I don't think the Mica's chassis supports much else?

The whole KR range, seems to me, a bit of a scattergun approach. And, as others have said, build quality and accuracy need to improve.

I do think the GT3 is an excellent model, but unfortunately too limited in its appeal.

So how about a 2023 approach to the early "modern" wagons such as the MEA,HEA etc.?

    Cheers

    Paul

The GWR X8 MICA that KR Models are doing shares a chassis that can be used with the earlier X7 diagram and the Tevan. Bar that I'd have to look through my reference books.
