  1. Great layout! Love the detail like the lads on the station with their iPads & the roadside flowers, plus the CCTV that's everywhere these days. Big Brother is watching you!!
  2. Great layout, I do really think that N gauge is the future with some people living in smaller modern houses and flats and with the need for a layout, those thinking about it should change to N gauge just like I did (from OO) and I am not looking back!
  3. I like this! I do have a soft spot for Scottish locations even though my current N Gauge layout is set in the East Midlands lol! Sam
  4. I'm also from Chesterfield and the LMS (Little Midland Society) is the club I am a member of. A great bunch of folks (mostly of the older generation). I know that membership of a club is not for everyone, but I find it enjoyable.
  5. I've always thought about building a layout set on the old Derby-Manchester line, a wonderful route which I've cycled through the tunnels & across Monsal Dale Viaduct in the past, but set it in modern times just as you are doing Cav. Looking forward to seeing more of this layout. Sam (A fellow Chesterfield based modeller!)
  6. I like this a lot, you don't see many small passing stations on branches modelled, it's just normally the terminus! As I was reading through your thread and looking at the photos, I thought would he get bored after a while operating this layout, as it's just a passing loop with a little station and a single siding and your just going to be running a handful of trains most of the time? Another alternative time period is to move it forward to the present day and set it as a station on a fictional preserved steam railway and you'd be able to run a much more interesting types of trains with bigger locomotives! Sorry for the criticizium, but don't take it too seriously!
  7. On the iPads in HMV looking at the great RM Web forum with dance music in the background!

  8. I have been inspired by this topic of fictitious liveries on models, now I want to do a made up livery on one of my N gauge locomotives in "SH Rail" livery with a appropriate rake of coaching stock for my layout. But there's one problem with this, I've never put transfers or re-painted any of my stock before!!
  9. Up The Owls, 3-1 to the Wednesday boys!

  10. A lovely, lovely layout. One of the best scenic N gauge layouts in this forum. Hope to see it soon either at a exhibition or in a magazine.
  11. No not Blackburn, he's heading to the dingles of Baaarrrnnsley.

  14. Just spent time watching films about Maglev Trains on Youtube, they are so, so fast! This is the future of Intercity transport!

  15. I saw one of the new Class 70's going past my work yesterday, they sound good (Engine noise) but the design of the loco looks so ugly, good I was far enough away to notice how terrible they are lol!!
  16. The station on your layout reminds me of Manchester Piccadilly with it's many terminal platforms under the vast roof and then at the side the couple of through platforms that take trains from Stockport to Oxford Road and beyond.
  17. I find the old line through Monsal Dale as interesting as you do and I once cycled the old track bed through the tunnels and across Monsal Dale viaduct which was amazing! Also one of these days I'd love to build a small N gauge layout of the viaduct and the nearby Monsal Dale station and operate it with modern trains as if the line had never closed.
  18. My recent music of choice this week is the excellent new Coldplay album Mylo Xyloto, Now 80 or some classic Killers, no-one can beat a bit of Mr Brightside, it's one of the only songs I know every word to!! Sammyboy UTO
  19. Off for a nice cuppa of Hot Choc and then a early night as it's work for me tomorrow morning pushing more of those blasted trolleys for B&Q, then it's out partying for NYE!!!

  22. I seem to remember a good few years back that I saw a sign on a lampost saying "This way to the beach" in the middle of town, it was very strange seeing the sign, which was located in Chesterfield town centre, which is some distance inland from the beach!!!
  23. The tracklaying on my layout is due to be finished tonight lol!!

  24. Wednesday we're lucky tonight to come from behind at Preston to get a draw, as I was in a restaurant worried about my teams result!!!
