  1. Never join anything, ever in Midsomer
  2. Well he did cut off half of his US customer base by refusing to sell to states that voted Trump!
  3. You only purchase the dongle once, I still have the one from when I puchased TC 7, all upgrades are done by "re-licensing" the dongle by software download/e-mail code. Until recently all downloads came from Digital Rivers somewhere in the 'net, under the new scheme all downloads come from...... effectively Digital Rivers but now with a UK presence!
  4. It's obviously what you have got used to but I can move the loco one handed with the throttle whilst positioning the loco over the magnet. And I'm not very dexterous! As I have said before, I also have a Lenz LH100 which you can also move locos slowly with the speed step buttons, is not so good when you need to change direction. BTW I use 128 steps in the decoders.
  5. But if you use a Multimaus to control the Z21 (as I do) you get a large centre off knob to control speed.
  6. I'm pretty sure we used it to cross to the up platform.
  7. Last few Down Platform, looking south: A bit further down the platform: The bay platforms still have these buffers, which are hydraulic according to the notice board: I notice that they, unlike convention buffers, aren't affixed to the rails at all Another view The reservoir tank: Which quite clearly is compressed air. A view over the buffers along the bay lines: The people of Morecambe get a classy(?) train: Back at Penrith having just alighted from this TPE class 350/4: That's it. An enjoyable day's journey, recommended if you can fit it in whilst up that way. Pity some of the coastal connections were a bit tight, unfortunately I found that it was difficult to avoid them without wasting lots of time.
  8. You'll probably get a Saint first (from Hornby), especially as the GWS one has recently steamed for the first time and will be unveiled to the public in the near future.
  9. Considering the damage to the compound 40900, I'm surprised that the middle cylinder hasn't been compromised. Maybe that was why it was withdrawn?
  10. At last. Something that isn't about cats
  11. On to Lancaster. Having arrived from Barrow on 1P93 which is just departing on it's way to Preston: View south from footbridge: Up platform loop 2 from footbridge looking south: Up Platform loop 2 looking north, with disused platform: Station eastern entrance to footbridge: On the Down Platform looking north: Pendolino on up main: Class 325 mail on up main: TBC
  12. Model Railways Direct have now put up a list of items matching Rails prices. Although it says they haven't yet been delivered but will be with them by next Thursday. 13. The Westerm, of course, managed to get their own back later on when not only did many non express ex GWR locos end up in fully lined green livery, quite a few of Riddles machines were so treated as well!
  14. I wonder whether the Wolverhampton/Birmingham New Road was built using NG equipment? It was started in 1924 and was (mostly) a dual carriageway from when built.
  15. And time. Which from the performance of ones on houses around where I live haven't be set since bought.
  16. I've got a PIR controlled light mounted on the house pointing towards the garden (railway) room 70' feet away. It works perfectly, not triggered by cats or other stray creatures. It was designed for a 60W BC tungsten bulb but now has a much brighter LED with some extra reflectors added in the fitting to narrow the beam. As it's PIR (passive infra red) it is more sensitive to my body heat when it is cold, so will trigger when I leave the garden room to head back to the house, when it's warm I have to be part way up the path.
  17. Here's part of my diagram (from TrainController) All frogs switched from point motor contacts:
  18. Moorewood Fullers Earth Site: https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/side-by-side/#zoom=17&lat=51.2562&lon=-2.5418&layers=168&right=BingHyb Originally Moorewood colliery had a 2ft gauge tramway, including a rope worked incline, from the mine at ST 642 495 (1.5 miles SE) to the siding at the Fullers Earth site. It closed a long, long time back. https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/side-by-side/#zoom=17&lat=51.2437&lon=-2.5140&layers=168&right=BingHyb https://www.bgs.ac.uk/Mendips/more_info/coal_mining.htm BTW What is this NG site just south of the old Fullers Earth site? https://goo.gl/maps/5nppEanVz2t It seems to use some of the trackbed of the old mine tramway.
  19. They used to stop completely when labouring up a hill (usually when it was pouring with rain!)
  20. I notice all the in stock Hornby ones on Hatton's website have the rods with the joint forwards. AFAIK these are in house photos and not Hornby promotional ones.
  21. I'd worry that the bottom one might be something to do with certain type of Colombian produce!
