Kind of agree . Had actually forgotten that this had been announced until I saw your note . After prices, the amount of time taken to bring a model to fruition is indeed the most talked about. But actually Bachmann is no worse than Heljan or DJT in this respect including their commissions. Hornby and Oxford appear a bit better, but agree the industry could do with a reorientation towards customers expectations.
I renewed on website a few weeks ago. Received Horlicks wagon Friday , new membership card ( white this time) and lapel pin. Could easily do without the card and badge but the model looks nice . Not had chance to get it out box yet . I take it this is the 2016 model
That Huntley and Palmers livery looks rich doesn't it. I wasn't originally interested in these but it looks really good and at an affordable price, I might just start a collection of Pecketts.
Looks good in Apple Green but is this authentic or was it only used for special duties? May go for it but not sure if the B12 in Green is a better option being more typical.
I'm hoping a 25 is on the cards. I quite fancy an SLW product but I already have two Bachmann 24s and really don't need another. On the other hand I've only one 25 and it's a Hornby one dating from 1977. Nice model for it's time , but certainly if an SLW 25 were available I'd give it a go.
Hanbury and Oaktown circa 1982 Railway Modeller. A nice layout using proprietary models , buildings where operation was described in detail. Loved the layout, tried to copy it in various of my own layouts and although in my current one the track plan is completely different it still has it's inspiration from that article. Trains leave one terminus, do several rounds of oval and then appear at second terminus per timetable. Also liked Perth from an early Model Rail. Actually there are similarities, in that article also dealt with operations
It is odd isn't it. Absolutely guilty of double standards. It's strange but I have to run locos of certain periods together and not mix them . So I can run Grouping, BR Steam/ green diesel and BR Blue. So getting the correct stock for time periods is important to me and yet in the BR steam period Panniers rub shoulders with A4s , Duchesses and even Bullied Pacifics . I blame catalogues in my youth which tended to do same thing. But then again maybe I need therapy.
Would like to support local model shops but I'm afraid door has already closed on that one!
Not a great Evans fan, or of his crowd of cronies, but I think he has handled this rather well and with a bit of dignity. Good for him. I'm sure he didn't need the hassle , why not just walk away.
Mmm a "bespoke handcrafted model" for £320 . Compares pretty favourably on price. Helps give some perspective. Thanks for link. Will have a look to see what else on offer. Must admit had never heard of Britannia Pacific.
Further Edit. Great I didn't realise they offer ready to run Glasgow Blue Train and DBSO . We still need to know what price Bachmann will charge for their forthcoming DBSO , but based on the 4TC cost I'm not encouraged. Looks like Britannia Pacific could well be less expensive for a tailor made model. Thanks again for link
Lovely layout Dublo Dad. Love seeing Hornby Dublo at exhibitions. So much play factor, sometimes I think we've lost the enjoyment factor as we get more sophisticated.. Please keep posting pics
Thanks Charlie but I see little point in posts telling us that there are 20 changes to the bodyshell if you cant tell us what it is. its not as if we can have an input. I understand the commercial need for secrecy, but all these posts do is encourage froth . You can say don't read them then, but the title says New Realtrack DMU and I wondered what it was . Not a thread about an inderterminate product at an inderterminate time in the future leading to speculation about what it is. In fairness its the same over on GCR thread about product announcement- Kernow, but at least I knew that was froth and wont look again until its actually announced- Friday I think. We also have a Rapido thread unless that is actually the same model you are referring to.
I know I'm getting grumpy in my old age
Talk about froth encouragement. I used to enjoy these types of post but now , I think because so many , have become weary of them. How about doing an SLW and telling us when its ready for sale?
I know you can go by tram to Bury, which is middle of the line. First bus probably do a bus but I'm not aware of the number. I do know they run up Broadway from Manchester through Chadderton to Oldham so I'd image you could get to Heywood. Try looking up First Manchester buses. But if I was going I'd travel tram to Bury. Is the event at Heywood. It's the end of the line but didn't think much in way of facilities there. The heart of ELR is Bury
Yep the old Royal Princess , now called the Artemis , I think, was moored behind us in Santorini a few weeks ago. Two Royal Princesses together. Mine was a fair bit larger. Great ship .
Anyway , best wishes ,hope you have a better day tomorrow.
