  1. Terence Lane now set up and running. Next will be ballasting and putting a bridge in to hide the layouts exit.
  2. Love the small fuelling building!
  3. So over the weekend just gone it came to my attention a layout was being sold partially complete by its owner. This layout looked to be of good construction, fitted my space (apart from some leg adjustment) and all wired up for DCC. So my bare boards are now no longer required and I can run trains once the other board is put up. Layout will be called 'Terence Lane' in memory of my father who past away earlier in the year and started my interest in railways. It will be a Liverpool area fuel point and end of run round. I also am considering a line with a small shed on which I will have as a wheel lathe type building. That means I can run single wagons and carriages and leave them in the shed for periods of time and shunt with my 08. I am imaging it to be around the Edge hill area. John
  4. Thanks, I've a few more things up my sleeve for it yet also. The layout build is about to take an interesting turn also. Will reveal more in the week once events have taken place...
  5. 37426 The small detail. Next will be the cab interior then seal the transfers and start the weathering process.
  6. Looks decent enough to me to keep my order for one in place.
  7. I've noticed, let's hope all my pre ordered stock doesn't arrive at the same time. Will be a few please explains to the management...!
  8. Sound fitted the 08 last night. Haven't stopped driving it up and down my two yards of track (more is on order) great fun and makes me remember why the money spent and burnt fingers are worthwhile!
  9. Slippery slopes are all good I have eyes on the garage and garden to continue down it!
  10. Thanks, plan is to enjoy it as much as possible and not worry if I change the plan a lot as I go. Might have a crack at OHLE as I did it in 4mm a few years back and enjoyed that. Will need to build some rolling stock kits though to go under it!
  11. Thought I would start an thread on here to share my foray into O gauge. Had a mixed results time in N last layout and ended up selling a under construction project. Seeing some of the O gauge releases spurred me on to have a go so am seeing where it leads. Couple of baseboards are in my possession giving me approx 6 ft of space for now so this will be a limited space layout for now. Track is on order as still pondering a name. Stock so far is a Heljan 37/4 being worked on to produce 37426. A Dapol 08 as 08916 and some wagons in the form of a skytrex TTA. Heljan OAA and a Dapol HAA. Era 1990ish as my usual favourite with a potential mix of liveries and will see where this takes me. John
  12. Design Im working on has a similar plan as the Edge Hill area had a circuit line around the area which fell into disuse in the 80s and subsequently demolished, even had overhead wires on it. Good to see progress Cameron on yours, I just have to rebuild my garage first before my next layout and I have sold most of my N gauge stuff now.
  13. Like the disused lines on the bridge
  14. Was a regular traveller on that stock in its last couple of years of use but memory fades a bit now, I cant be 100% sure but most of the stock up there in the early 90s had an overhaul at Eastfield (Last work it did pretty much before closure iirc) The seats seemed to be grey with Provincial Light Blue/Dark Blue spots identical in upholstery pattern to those on the newly delivered 158s. It may also be that some coaches had the Square Provincial colours like the Trans Pennine Rakes had.
  15. Found it on fbook and add to group request sent.
  16. Nice to see a Merseyside layout in this era. Looking at O myself now having done OO and N and may go for a TMD Liverpool area but different era to yours Probably late 80s as I always like the mix of blue and Sector colours. Need to convert the garage though but I have negotiated 16ft of space by 1ft 6inches if I fund the work....
  17. Hello all, its with great delight my modelling mojo is returning at a steady rate. Following a direction in the change of my career I have permission from Control for an 8 x 2 foot N gauge project. My last plan Monks Ferry 1990 is on the planning radar but is a long time off due to the costs in the hobby now preventing me from purchasing much stock after my previous models were sold. Location will be a what if based on Thurstaston on the Wirral still being open. Its now part of the Wirral country park which I often visit. My rule 1 sees its still open and part of a line from West Kirby to Hooton. BR a la Hooton has not been able to extend the 3rd rail past Thursaston and as such services from Liverpool terminate here for DMUs to serve Hooton, Chester and beyond. Freight for Birkenhead Docks passes through and Cement from Hope sidings and Fuel from Stanlow arrives and is unloaded in the sidings. Era will be circa 1990 but will possibly save up for a Grafar 40 to switch clock back a few years when the mood takes. Track plan is an oval with 2 platforms and some sidings for a Cement terminal and small fuel depot. Also from the Left hand side the track will be 3rd rail electrified and non electrified going to the right. Track will be code 55 and DCC control will be used. Stock will be gained at a steady rate and first on the workbench is an N-Train 507 3 car kit Blue Grey with a Tomytec Chassis now arrived from Japan.
  18. Remember them well a few got them. 47595 was one,508 another. Quite a few ACs got them also.
  19. Will do! Sorry for the thread hi jack doughnut, love the progress on the layout OHLE looks the part as well as great stock signals and scenery!
  20. Also had that idea, I do wonder if the large yellow encased monitors would be overkill though! Also going to try and get someone who can do a basic program to run the BR type black screen displays.
  21. Sticking to an era makes life slightly easier for me also. Currently looking at how to do a 104. Worsley works do an etch which would sit on a Farish 108 body. 104s would look good for Millers Dale also? They used to work off Buxton and still went there and to Sheffield via the Hope valley in 1988. They were wrecks though which all got the axe round here in June 1990 working off Chester.
  22. Dapol do dummy pairs of 86s and 156 trailers so there must be a way of making it stack up...
  23. 31s used to be regular on Liverpool to Sheffield/Hull/Cleethorpes until 1988 via the Hope Valley. All blue ones on 4 mk1s or mk2s.
  24. Like the mk2 done s few rub downs on mk3s that were farish. Not fun!
