Oxford Rail announce OO gauge BR Pilchard wagon
bazil31 replied to MGR Hooper!'s topic in Oxford Rail
Thanks for the heads up just ordered 3 from Derails -
I have Phoenix Precision ARC yellow and was toying with the idea of spraying one but the masking of the decals has put me off. That looks really good Shane you must have great patience to mask the decals. Might have ago over the holidays. Still a great wagon and will weather some up soon. Hoping to get some more ARC and Yeoman sets but might purchase the KUA instead and wait for a rerun of these. Baz

My 10 ARC wagons arrived this morning and they do look great. Will have a go at weathering over the Christmas to tone them down a bit. Very pleased with the service from Accurascale had email Wednesday to say they are on the way and arrived this morning. Alas I think my Orange/Grey inners are lost with Royal Mail as I have had an email on the 1/12/20 but still have not arrived. Baz

Must say these wagons are brilliant really impressed. Got the Yeoman and Orange/ Grey ones . Looking forward to the ARC ones coming now, only ordered 21 pack of inners and 1 pack of outers. Contemplating ordering an extra inner pack for the Yeoman and ARC as I don't think they will hang around for long. Baz

Oh is this the same one that Rails have for pre order at the moment? Sultan in Br Blue with Light Grey roof (code 3441) I've ordered that one a while ago.

I just purchased a Bachmann 03 with sound and that has a Zimo chip as well. A while back I got a Class 55 deltic with a select and must say that it is the worst sounding deltic I have ever heard even the 3.5 ESU version in St Paddy from years ago sounded much much better. vowed I would never purchase a Bachmann with pre fitted sound again but relented and am very pleased with the 03, just need to fit a stay alive.

Really tidy job looks great and no damage to the existing paintwork. Was the depot plaque the same size as the Heljan one?

Yes the Double arrows do look big Ive found this before on some 37's

I've got 33 021 and want to get Eastleigh nameplates and the depot plaque from Shawplan. Has anyone fitted theirs with the nameplates and could they tell me if the plates cover the printed one completely or do I need to remove existing printed one first. Baz

Sorry I wasn't meant to be quoting not sure why it did that.

33 042 arrived today and to be fair not quite as bad weathering on the nose as 33 012 but still a bit odd. A little bit heavy around the marker lights will probably give it a wipe to lessen the dirt.

Yes front end does look better its just the roof that is niggling me its like they cleaned off the dark colour and it just looks to clean too much of a contrast. It is cleaner than the sides which has a fine dusty layer. Not sure weather to spray some black paint over the light blue or spray some faded blue over the edge of the roof and weather it after with powders.

Photo of 33 with end cleaned with a cotton bud and white spirit. I also cleaned around the yellow on the cab side windows. Didn't take long a couple of minutes was all. Not sure I would of purchased this loco if I had seen the weathering first as I already have a couple of blue ones but I wanted the faded body shade. The rest of the weathering is not too bad just the roof to sort out .

A couple of minutes with a cotton bud dipped in white spirit has removed most of the weathering on one end so not too worried now. Not sure about the roof line might have to bring the black down to the orange stripe. Baz

I agree the weathering is pretty bad on the yellow ends and also along the edge of the roof. Will have a go at removing some with white spirit if it will budge and add some extra tones with powder and an airbrush. Had this one on order for a while and have it on the rolling road for the last hour or so and ran fine straight out of the box. I also have 33 042 on order hopefully a bit better ion the weathering.
