  1. Hi You do have a point as Gilbert has just cropped the photo from the foreground area giving an elongated view. The layout is that good with its trackwork and buildings I would crop from the right hand side and use the signal box as a focal point. Either way both photos are very good. Regards David
  2. Hi Gilbert A very nice angle, but my only comment would be to crop out some of the track work in the foreground. As good as the trackwork is to me it just slightly dominates the photo. I do have a similar problem with Haymarket, the only difference is due to the layout design I cannot avoid having running lines in the foreground unless I produce a high level (Birds Eye View) photo. This is a suggestion and in no way a criticism of your layout or photography skills. Regards David
  3. Hi It's been a while since my last post, a view across the East yard shows A2/3 60511 Airborne is passing home based A4 60031 Golden Plover arriving on shed. A2/3 Bachmann/G King Conversion and the A4 RTR Hornby. Regards David
  4. Hi Gilbert I find it interesting reading your comments on photography lighting on your Peterborough North Layout. I have a similar problem but with a different outcome, the room I have Haymarket in has just one bay window facing South West and it’s located at the wrong end of the layout to make the situation worse. This means I cannot get any decent coloured photos during natural daylight hours, so I have had two rows of LED down lighters installed with light tracks positioned either side of the baseboards with Natural Daylight LED’s in each light fitting. The light fittings slide along the two lighting tracks which means I can position them anywhere alone the track length I want or remove them altogether from one track to the other so I can boost the lighting to the side of the layout I’m photographing at the time. I only photograph when it’s dark outside but I do find that the colour looks so much more natural and the photos are a big improvement over any daylight photos I take. Lighting apart your photos are still exceptional. Regards David
  5. Hi This time we have K1 Class 62024 passing the shed, I can find no definite proof that a member of this class was ever seen on Haymarket MPD, but again I love the model and it's the closest I can get to a K4 Class until one day hopefully they may produce one in RTR. This is a standard Hornby RTR model with additional detailing and weathering added, this time I went for a more heavy weathering. 62024 spent it's entire life in the Newcastle area being shedded at both Gateshead and Blaydon MPD's so who knows it may have found it's way up to Edinburgh? Regards David
  6. Hi Tony Fabulous work, by chance if it’s been painted do you have any photos of the finished K4? Regards David
  7. Hi Darryl I have had another look at the film and your spot on the locomotive is 67800 Many thanks for clearing that up. Regards David
  8. I was recently watching one of my favourite films “The Lady Killers” a Fabulous Ealing dark comedy. One scene shows V3 class No 67600 arriving at Kings Cross Station with a train from Cambridge according to the station announcer in the film. I looked up 67600 and it’s first and last shed allocations was Eastfield Glasgow, if that’s the case I wonder what it was doing in London so far from Glasgow when the film was made in 1955 or was it relocated away from Eastfield sometime in its working life. David
  9. A4 60012 Commonwealth of Australia prepares to leave Haymarket with the Elizabethan Express headboard in place. This A4 I read has the longest nameplate of any British locomotive and was one member of the class I never got to see. A standard Hornby RTR A4 which came out as a limited addition, this has been weathered and additional detailing added. I also removed the existing plastic single chimney and replaced it with a white metal double chimney Regards David
  10. Hi Here we have visiting B1 No 61243 Sir Harold Mitchell leaving the MPD for Waverley station. A standard Hornby RTR B1, weathered and additional detailing added. Regards David
  11. Hi Tony lovely models They are exceptional locomotives, I remember going round Camden MPD one Sunday morning in very early 1963 and the shed was packed with them they looked enormous to a ten year old boy. Such carefree happy days. Regards David
  12. Hi A close up of A4 60028 Walter K Whigham, this is a special A4 to me as it was the very first member of the class I saw back in 1962. I was very fortunate to see it as it was withdrawn for scrapping at Doncaster two months after I saw it and was the only sight for me. This is a Hornby RTR A4 which I detailed and carried out an identity change to Haymarket's 60004 William Whitelaw then realised it had the wrong tender for 60004 so changed it again to 60028 which was a regular on the Elizabethan and a visitor to 64B. This view shows 60028 backing past the shed to the Coal Tower and Ash Pits Regards David
  13. Thank you Tony Thats very kind of you. And a very Happy & Healthy 2023 to You and Your family as well. Regards David
  14. And a close up of the same locomotive, this is a standard Bachmann RTR model which I have detailed, lightly weathered, renamed and renumbered. . Regards David
  15. A photo of home based A2 60529 Pearl Diver running past the main shed building. Regards David
  16. Hi Tony Thank you, I was having a minor problem on Gilbert’s thread yesterday where the previous page was just blank so I was unable to see the contents. But all OK now. Regards David
  17. Hi Looks fantastic, any possibility of Gilbert providing an insight as to what alterations were carried out, as I thought that the cab shape on 60506 was completely different to the A2/2’s currently produced by Hornby. Regards David
  18. Plus one additional photo I missed. Regards David
  19. Hi A few more images taken before the Christmas holiday. Regards David
  20. Hi Gilbert Great photos I do like the Prototype Deltic DP1 it’s a stunning model, I have just handed my model over to have a digital decoder fitted. Merry Christmas to you. Regards David
  21. Hi Tony Great photos of exceptional models. I totally agree with your comments they are Fabulous models, some time ago I purchased the NRM prototype Deltic when a run on the model was available and I also purchased a second hand Bachmann D9003 Meld. Neither relevant to Haymarket circa 1958/9 but both too good to pass over. I never saw the prototype Deltic in service as I started trainspotting in 1962 but saw plenty of the Deltic’s that followed we use to look at them as intruders to the remaining LNER Pacific’s that were still running at that time. Regards David
  22. Evening A view across the East yard with a few of Haymarket's A4's getting ready for their next duties. Regards David
  23. Thank you Tony I take that as very high praise indeed. It’s layouts like your own Little Bytham and Eric and Gilbert’s layouts Longdrem & Pinkhill and Peterborough North that has given me the inspiration to start and continue with Haymarket’s progress. Also I must add without the continuous help I have received from Gareth at Replica Railways I believe I would have given up long ago. Regards David
  24. Hi Richard Thank you, looking forward to seeing more photos from your Basingstoke Layout as well. Regards David
  25. Some new photos showing a few locomotives which I recently have carried out some very minor alterations to. Bachmann V1 Class No 67610 a model I renumbered, this model had a large unsightly gap over the front bogie wheels which I have filled in using some thin plasticard and then weathered I think it's an improvement. Hornby A4 60012 which I applied additional weathering to, and as already stated A2/1 60510 which has just had a digital decoder fitted Regards David
