  1. Hi Last weekend I collected my first three locomotives to be fitted with DCC Digital Decoders. I chose three Thompson Pacific's to start with as these were not straight forward installations. A2/1 60510 in a PDK kit build loco and A2/3's 60511 & 60521are both Bachmann/G King conversions, at the same time each locomotive was given a clean and health check. Photo below. Regards David
  2. Hi Wishing all RMWeb members a Merry Christmas and a very Happy & Healthy 2023. Regards David
  3. Evening Tony A great set of photos To far back or front, I prefer to see the A3’s without any type of smoke deflector fitted. Dare I say it I even prefer Humorist’s smoke deflectors to the German Type. Regards David
  4. Hi Chris I my trainspotting days in the early 1960’s living in London I had the advantage of seeing locomotives from all four regions and I must admit and I don’t know why but the GWR locomotives were always the ones I was least interested in seeing, LNER and Southern being my favourites. That was back in the days of steam, I would give my right arm now to see regular GWR Steam running on the network. And it’s all the more ironic that I have lived in Swindon for almost forty years. Regards David
  5. Hi Tony I commented Stunning as looking at your recent video footage it’s by far the closest I have ever seen to the real thing. I totally agree with you seeing model locomotives at speed on a layout not only looks more interesting and realistic but also shows just how well made the rolling stock and trackwork is. Haymarket due to the number of locomotives on the layout at any one time is DCC, and on Friday I collected my first three locomotives back from Gareth at Replica Railways who is fitting the digital decoders and giving each locomotive a health check at the same time. When the late Norman Saunders set out the track layout for Haymarket for me he condensed it down to 20’-0” overall length of which I have completed only 8’-0” due to space restrictions at our present house. We will be moving home within the next two years and a Railway room of some kind is one of the requirements we will be looking for within the new property. Haymarket as designed is an end to end layout with three running line in the foreground , if I can find space large enough in the new house I would like to extend the layout by about 6’-0” to create a complete circuit for the three running lines so like you I can have trains running at high speed past the MPD as was in real life, and this would please the grandchildren as well I do find it very inspirational looking at what you do at Little Bytham and hopefully seeing more video footage of your Layout in the future. Regards David
  6. A couple more photos taken from the last session. Regards David
  7. And a few more new Photos. Regards David
  8. Hi A few new photos taken recently of locomotives in and around Haymarket MPD. Regards David
  9. Hi Eric Very nice weathering on the V2. Regards David
  10. Hi Gilbert I don’t know if it’s my computer as I have had problems accessing certain items on RMWeb but I cannot get access to your latest page No1426, I can get all pages up to 1425. I thought I would let you know just in case it is a problem and your not aware of it. Regards David
  11. Hi Gilbert Thank you, coincidently I have just been looking on Ian Kirks website and some of the kits look very similar to the two carriages I purchased, I cannot remember exactly how much I paid for them but I believe they were very reasonably priced. Regards David
  12. Hi A few weeks ago I posted a photo of my Bachmann Deltic D9003 Meld, Tony Wright comment on the carriage behind the diesel asking could I provide some information about it. As I have already stated my knowledge on Carriages is very limited, I purchased two Gresley Brake carriages from the same seller on Ebay quite a few years ago. I enclose a photo of the two together and wonder if anyone can provide any information on them. They may possible be kit built and both have plastic bodies one scales at approx 62'-0" the other is approx 52'-0" and thats all I know, any information would be welcome. I have also been photographing some more models on the layout, first one is A4 60028 Walter K Whigham the first A4 I ever saw back in 1962. Regards David
  13. Hi Here we see A3 60093 Coronach about to leave Haymarket MPD and run down light engine to Waverley Station and return home to Carlisle via The Waverley Line. Regards David
  14. Good morning Gilbert Your second photo of 60033 Seagull is superb for one moment I thought it was a photo of the real A4. Regards David
  15. Hi Tony Sorry for the late reply having been on grandchildren duties today and putting A shelf up for my Son at the same time he is not very good when it comes to DIY he is more DCDII ( Dad can do it instead ) Thank you for your comments and reply, I agree that the Deltic’s along with the Class 44 peaks class D1toD10 are my joint favourite diesels of all time and unlike the LNER Pacific’s I did manage to see all members of both Diesel classes. Regarding the carriage I must admit I have very little knowledge on railway cartridges only what I have learnt from threads like your own and Gilbert’s Peterborough North. I do like the look of the Gresley design carriages and some time ago I purchased two at a very cheap price on EBay but no details on who made them but I do believe they were both kit built both with plastic bodies. The one behind the Deltic at 4mm scale measures approx 52 feet in length and the other carriage I purchased measures approximately 62 feet. I did fit brass wire handrails to both carriages and some very crude door handles again using brass wire but I am looking for some better quality D type handles if they are the correct type to use? Regards David
  16. A close up of Haymarket's only A2/3 class locomotive 60519 Honeyway. This is one of Hornby's new RTR models with additional detailing added plus a complete repaint. Regards David
  17. Hi Away from the LNER Pacific's as today I am jumping forward to1962 when the Deltic's were arriving at Haymarket. This is a Bachmann Deltic D9003 Meld which I purchased second hand on Ebay about ten years ago, all I have done is fitted the detailing pack and weathered the locomotive, Accurascale have recently produced superb models of the Deltic class but I still think the Bachmann version is a decent looking model The photo enclosed shows Meld passing the MPD. I remember back in 1962 seeing the early members of the class on running trials light engine through Finsbury Park Station. Regards David
  18. Hi The last two photo of A4 6011 Empire of India and A3 60035 Windsor Lad, both Haymarket Pacific's. These two are three quarter close ups of both locomotives, in my opinion i think Hornby have produced two superb models in the A3's and A4's both full of detail. Regards David
  19. Hi Graeme That would make a lot of sense why I have lost access to two threads. I was in Spain when it happened I just put it down to me clearing old data and cookies but you could be right in that there may have been another malfunction or update. Regards David
  20. Hi Gilbert some of these little glitches can be very frustrating. Since the whole site went down I can no longer get the Layout Topics or Modelling Musing and Miscellany sections so I now have to keep the relevant layouts I follow in my reading list which again is very frustrating as most of the threads I follow are in those two sections. Next time I insert a photo I will try to add multiple images and see how that compares with your description on the problem you have. Regards David
  21. Hi A close up of locomotives on shed prior to the Pacific's leaving. Regards David
  22. Good morning Gilbert A great photo of my favourite A4 one of which I never saw. Regarding images you can download as many as you want providing the total download does not exceed 10MB. Keep the photos coming. Regards David
  23. Hi Another photo of the last two locomotives taken from a high level view and this time Kings Cross based A4 60010 Dominion of Canada has move up along side A3 60035 Windsor Lad. Regards David
