  1. I bought this set a few years ago to use on a garden railway but it never happened. So I want to use it now but find the range is less tan 1m against a claimed 100m. there is obviously something wrong but what? Any help advice will be appreciated. Norman
  2. Yes Ray but the op did not ask about moving the horn only how to make F2 activate the dynamic brake. Norman
  3. Hello Zoro Just set CV309=2 - job done active braking is on F2 and not F5 Norman
  4. Hi Chameleon According to the Lenz LH101 handbook "If you need more than 8 stack slots, you can use another LH101 and save other locomotive addresses in its stack." Norman
  5. In an email I received from Gaugemaster they said March. Norman
  6. Does anyone know of a source for the long body screws used by Heljan? - Howes never stocked them.
  7. Gaugemaster say they will be supplying spare parts but its in the "changeover period and they are not quite ready".
  8. Dapol recommend 12 volt - according to the info sheet with the signal. A regulated supply and lower voltage may be of benefit but the recommendation from Dapol is 12 volt. At our club we have collectively bought more than 20 and only one or two are still working. all connected as per instruction sheet. I asked DCC supplies recently if they had any failed ones for sale because I thought if there were enough I could make a little business converting them to servo control. But they said they have no stock. I've seen them being sold cheaply at shows in the past but they must be just chucking all the ones returned. Norman
  9. Hi Freebie thanks for the info: "there are no plans to change over to this method of control for the single arm signals in OO" That's what I feared. The old design is a disaster and a good solution is available but ............ no action. How sad is that. Norman
  10. I've just looked at both Rails and Hattons web sites and they both show the old design of single signals. Only the brackets are servo. Warranty is 12 months surely not 3 months. The shop is responsible not Dapol or its agent. Norman
  11. Is that for the single and bracket signals? I wonder what happens if you send back a failed single signal to Hattons?
  12. Are the 00 single signals now operated by servo? The old ones on the club layout have all now failed and there does not appear to be a remedy save replacing them all with the same design. The new O gauge single signals seem far better especially because they can be switched from proceed to stop with a single pole double throw switch. Norman
  13. My #2 Isebrook works OK on DC and even better with a Zimo MX636D decoder, just purrs along nicely. At first I thought the firebox flicker was not working, as looking into the spacious cab no sign of a flicker. Silly me its more an ashpan glow than firebox flicker being directly under the boiler/firebox but now I'm happy with it. Norman
  14. Just connect between the positive(blue) and one of the functions.
  15. Trading losses can be incurred and accepted providing there are reserves i.e. money in the bank. It's not unusual for start-ups to have initial trading losses while they build up the business. Norman
  16. Good advice I'm sure but the OP needs to know where to buy Paul's project. I don't think you can buy from Paul regards Norman
  17. Hi James From first had experience - always check a loco on the programming track when you have fitted a chip. Any problem investigate do not risk ful DCC power until you can read OK. Norman
  18. Hi Kim I used a MX644 with an adaptor board and my pals both used a hard wired MX645 - all from youchoos If you are uncertain give them a ring - very helpful No connection just satisfied customer Norman
  19. Hi kim I have one and a couple of pals too all fitted with Zimo decoders and they run perfectly. On speed step one they appear to move slower than walking pace. Norman
  20. R Yes there seems to be a cartell of the big 3, Tower, Hattons and Rails, fixing the price - what ever happened to competion law. Very happy with mine other than the usual Heljan problem with fragile bits made fom brittle plasic. Norman
  21. Hi T cup Not too difficult to remove couplings with a pair of long nosed pliers. Norman
  22. Dear Sir TophamHatt Decoderpro and a sprog will suit your needs very well. Norman
  23. Reduce the 16 volts to 8 volts with a diode. Norman
  24. Hi Graham When bought RTR diesels normally have the front white lights connected with the rear red lights so that on normal DC the lights work depending on the direction of travel. White showing at the fron and red at the opposite end. For DCC if you want to control the lights independantly you need to modify the wiring, seperating the red lights from the white lights. You will of course need a 4 function decoder to control all 4 pairs of lights. Norman
  25. Collected my Mogul today and can confirm that it's a really well produced model which looks very good and runs very well indeed on analogue over turnouts and crossings without hesitation. The tender only pickups work OK. Those who knock it need to experince it first hand rather than jump to a conclusion just because it's not been done before.. If the pickups had been only on the loco no one would have commented. Norman
