Could be an "opposing locked omitted" (or relaxed) move Russ, meaning the signals out of the siding and the signal into the siding can clear at the same time - the three signals visible all being clear allows the engine to shunt in and out of the sidings during a run round move. I found some pics of the lever frame but it doesn't show

My dad used to work for Burroughs computers as a field engineer - I can remember him bringing home adding machines for repair and I used to play with them, once I was allowed to take one into school and show everyone, this would be mid 1960s and they were open mouthed in amazement. Around the same time Dad started to bring circuit boards home (at the weekends for extra money) for alterations, these were enormous, probably 1 - 2 feet square (hard to remember the size when I was still small) full of valves and wires and other things, he used to have to hard wire fixes onto them, these fixes were tested back in the office and a fail would mean another attempt, some of them we had on the kitchen table several times much to Dad's frustration.

I believe Mountsorrel quarry changed hands a few years ago and is no longer a source for Trowse stone, although Barham still receives deliveries from there. Croft had not been a source for Anglia stone since my time down here (12+ years) , and I can't remember any other flows nationwide, although no doubt there were some but they didn't cross my path. I assume it was no longer viable hence it's closure to rail. Tunstead and Briggs are able to send out thousands of tonnes each day so I guess they are more than able to cope with demand and I suspect Mountsorrel could step up and fill at least some of a gap if required so Croft is not missed. Croft is a granite quarry rather than limestone, it's still open for (road based) quarrrying of course but hasn't seen rail traffic for 10 years or so.

Peterborough PSB has succumbed to the march of York ROC this weekend, they left a message on the blocks for the box (1972-2023) and to mark the site of Mallards' (aka DUCK) record run.

Welcome to the 2023 season of RHTT workings. GBRF* have taken over my local RHTT (Stowmarket based) services for 2023 - to this end they have been using their ex DRS 57 for driver training for a few days this past week * which sadly brings an end to the DRS guys and the 37s. How far north did Warships or Westerns ever get?
beast66606 replied to KeithMacdonald's topic in UK Prototype Questions
I have heard an unconfirmed report of a Hymek on a Cowley car train at Winsford on the down, presumably heading for Speke - the teller was a respected source (a driver) so take that as you will. -
Day 3 Eccles Road 04/08/2023 (Friday) 66753, EMD Roberts Road, on 6P52, 12:13, Whitemoor Yard L.D.C GBRF - Lowestoft RECP. (14:35) - empty stone (20 IOA) The loaded working got an early run out of Norwich (not sure why it's booked to sit at Norwich for 34 minutes, it could easily leave early, even if it then waits at Ely) 66753, EMD Roberts Road, on 6H52, 19:30, Lowestoft RECP. - Whitemoor Yard L.D.C GBRF (22:45) - loaded stone (20 IOA)

Plenty of (G)WR locos got to Birkenhead, indeed they had a depot at Mollington Street -

I spoke to several of the old signalmen and none could recall a Whizzo or a Warship beyond Chester (on the Birkenhead line) -
Royal mail train almost robbed
beast66606 replied to Craig1989's topic in UK Prototype Discussions (not questions!)
The location was Kirtlebridge. Signal GMC847 had the aspect removed / smashed, the signals preceeding it showed the correct aspects (presumably G/YY/Y -> red which became blank), the driver of the mail, 1S55, stopped to report the blank aspect and noticed 2 males on the signal, as he reported it they then tried to rob the train. Police attended and 2 were arrested. Later it was noticed that the aspect had also been removed / smashed from GMC848 signal. This has been widely discussed on various forums, I've redacted some details for brevity but it's no secret. -
Freightliner stone to Trowse
beast66606 replied to beast66606's topic in UK Prototype Discussions (not questions!)
A celebrity ! Following the failure of 66592 at Melton Mowbray on 01/08/2023, the train was rescued by 66587 and the wagons were taken to Barrow Hill yard. I was hoping for 587 to stay there with them but on Tuesday afternoon it returned to Earles Sidings so Wednesday morning I had no idea what was working the train, luckily 587 had returned to Barrow Hill. Eccles Road 02/08/2023 (Wednesday) 66587, As One We Can, on 6L81, 02:10, Barrow Hill Up Sdg No 1 - Trowse Yard Redland Siding (07:49) - loaded stone (19 JNA) 66587, As One We Can, on 6Z45, 15:09, Trowse (FHH) - Tunstead Sdgs (20:59)
