  1. Don't want to distract from Jim's thread but it (apparently) hit something concrete on the track causing damage to couplings / vehicles, losing a coupling which then hit a 150 rupturing it's fuel tank.
  2. Try disabling your anti-virus - I had to reinstall mine yesterday after it was blocking secure connections to some servers and I was unable to add exceptions. Using "Pause Protection" temporarily fixed the connection issue so I removed and reinstalled.
  3. Like buses - no drags for months and then 2 on consecutive days, todays is 3 x 755 dragged by 37601 - that'll do nicely

  4. 2 of the Stowmarket RHTT services started today - 3S60 runs South but 3S01 is "mine". Now operated by GBRF Great Moulton 25/09/2023 (Monday) 66769, Paul Taylor Our Inspiration, and 66779, Evening Star, on 3S01, 09:22, Stowmarket D.G.L. - Stowmarket D.G.L. (17:41) - RHTT via Cromer, Norwich, Yarmouth, Ely and Bury. 1st run of 2023 season and later in it's circuit passing Eccles Road
  5. 66779 ran to Stowmarket on Friday and is in position for the Anglia RHTT which look to be starting tomorrow (25/09) so it had a busy week
  6. A couple of years ago my wife and I were at the local school (where we both worked) for a musical, when we came to leave a parent had blocked the exit road (within school grounds). I asked him to move politely a few times, he flatly refused, in the end I got so angry I explained in more basic terms that he should move - he did. On our way home - in my wifes car luckily for him as I have dashcams, she doesn't - we were nearly run off the road by him overtaking in a dangerous place. Without evidence the police weren't interested but he put a complaint in about my swearing, to cut the story short, he threatened me with the police and told the school he had dashcam footage - "get it then" I said as it will show what happened. The school never pursued him for this, they told us they weren't interested in the near collision as it was off school premises and they sided with his complaint and didn't renew my contract which was up a few days later, The school contradicted their own policy on complaints numerous times but as I was not a full time staff member ACAS, while agreeing with me, told me there was nothing I could do formally. From my wifes experience and her colleagues in other schools it's apparent that schools wll always find on the parents side - even when they are in the wrong.
  7. I've heard there's a wicked war a-blazing
And the taste of war I know so very well
Even now I see the foreign flag a-raising
Their guns on fire as we sail into hell
I have no fear of death, it brings no sorrow
But how bitter will be this last farewell

  8. I've left out a couple of workings, traffic has been a bit spasmodic again but another load arrived on 05/09 Eccles Road 05/09/2023 (Tuesday) Second raft of 8 MMA off 6L92, 02:11, Toton Up Sidings - Eccles Rd Johnston's Sdg (07:14) - loaded stone (16 MMA) wait their turn for unloading in the Exchange Sidings The train ran 50 mins early, I woke as it was nearly at Eccles Road, I rushed out and despite the fog it was looking like I'd make it but defeat was snatched from the jaws of victory when a tractor held me up for the final few hundred yards and so the train was already reversing into the sidings when I was approaching the station, I made the decision to go to the field adjoining the siding, fortunately I met the groundstaff as he was splitting the train and wandered back to the loco with him additionally the sun was in (unusual for the week in question), had it been out it would have been wrong side, so I took a few shots as the first 8 MMA were taken for unloading. The second raft of 8 MMA await their turn under the grab (honest) The weather had cleared somewhat when the empties departure time arrived. 66110 on 4M88, 11:56, Eccles Rd Johnston's Sdg - Toton North Yard (17:07) - empty stone (16 MMA) propelling out And off
  9. After a couple of weeks without a train, it commenced running again on 07 Sept, another 2 different GeeBees at the helm. Eccles Road 07/09/2023 (Thursday) 66777, Annette, on 6P52, 12:13, Whitemoor Yard L.D.C GBRF - Lowestoft RECP. (14:35) - empty stone (20 IOA) 08/09/2023 (Friday) 66725, Sunderland, on 6P52, 12:13, Whitemoor Yard L.D.C GBRF - Lowestoft RECP. (14:35) - empty stone (20 IOA)
  10. Wonder what that guy is doing on Nottingham East box, he appears to be standing on a small bench - maybe fixing a broken window pane, or realisng a stuck one - or something else.
  11. Could be an "opposing locked omitted" (or relaxed) move Russ, meaning the signals out of the siding and the signal into the siding can clear at the same time - the three signals visible all being clear allows the engine to shunt in and out of the sidings during a run round move. I found some pics of the lever frame but it doesn't show
  12. Ban cycling ? - if people lean out of the window and get injured then to reduce that we must stop them leaning out so the logical conclusion would be if people ride bikes and get injured we should stop them riding bikes. (Mostly tongue in cheek)
  13. Whitehaven tunnel, the clearance was ridiculously tight and the station immediately after / before the tunnel mouth increased the risk of someone opening the window and trying to lean out to open the door,
  14. My dad used to work for Burroughs computers as a field engineer - I can remember him bringing home adding machines for repair and I used to play with them, once I was allowed to take one into school and show everyone, this would be mid 1960s and they were open mouthed in amazement. Around the same time Dad started to bring circuit boards home (at the weekends for extra money) for alterations, these were enormous, probably 1 - 2 feet square (hard to remember the size when I was still small) full of valves and wires and other things, he used to have to hard wire fixes onto them, these fixes were tested back in the office and a fail would mean another attempt, some of them we had on the kitchen table several times much to Dad's frustration.
  15. I believe Mountsorrel quarry changed hands a few years ago and is no longer a source for Trowse stone, although Barham still receives deliveries from there. Croft had not been a source for Anglia stone since my time down here (12+ years) , and I can't remember any other flows nationwide, although no doubt there were some but they didn't cross my path. I assume it was no longer viable hence it's closure to rail. Tunstead and Briggs are able to send out thousands of tonnes each day so I guess they are more than able to cope with demand and I suspect Mountsorrel could step up and fill at least some of a gap if required so Croft is not missed. Croft is a granite quarry rather than limestone, it's still open for (road based) quarrrying of course but hasn't seen rail traffic for 10 years or so.
  16. GBRF kindly continued using different locos on the working Eccles Road 24/08/2023 (Thursday) 66707, Sir Sam Fay / Great Central Railway, on 6P52, 12:13, Whitemoor Yard L.D.C GBRF - Lowestoft RECP. (14:35) - empty stone (20 IOA) 25/08/2023 (Friday) 66711, Sence, on 6P52, 12:13, Whitemoor Yard L.D.C GBRF - Lowestoft RECP. (14:35) - empty stone (20 IOA)
  17. Peterborough PSB has succumbed to the march of York ROC this weekend, they left a message on the blocks for the box (1972-2023) and to mark the site of Mallards' (aka DUCK) record run.
  18. RIP Peterborough PSB
