    Just found this thread and have to say it is some of the finest modelling I have ever seen. The scenery is just stunning. You clearly have an eye for replicating the real world, both with this layout and your weathering.

    It's great that you have found this to be such a tonic. Like you I've struggled with mental health issues and the quiet place of the modelling bench is a great therapy.

    Oh dear. I've two Terriers and a Manning Wardle, two ex Metropolitan Railway 4 wheel coaches, a number of private owner wagons. Also sleepers and rail. Just enough for a small WC&PR layout in 7mm. Heaven help me!!!

    That's correct. it sends out a laser which is picked up by the surveyor's staff as they take levels and mark setting out points. Removes the need for a chainman and traditional level or theodolite.

    The infill for the watercourse is now in place. There was never any such feature anywhere near Easton, as far as I can tell, but this is my version! Ultimately there will be a rail bridge to support the mid-air section of trackwork and a road/track bridge just to the right in this view, where you might be able to make out a 'flat bit'.

    Looking very good Mick. I've used a small hand held surform for shaping modelfoam when doing scenery, with a vacuum cleaner hose held adjacent to keep the mess down. I use sanding blocks to smooth down afterwards/

I have a small number of books that contain good clear photographs of the Colonels standard gauge railways with the lighter rail of both B/H and F/B sections. In 4mm. code 55 F/B rail is an excellent source for lightweight industrial sidings and such. HL.

Beats going up hill I though . Well I found muscles I never knew I had , with aches on back of legs and lower back , probably the strain of walking downhill at length . It was such a relief getting to the BOB at Grindlewald , but a very enjoyable walk ! Anyway here’s a picture on the way down . I think the train is around Brandegg with Grindlewald in distance

  8. I understand the Cattle Market Road entrance is to be brought back into use this/next year to coincide with the completion of the University Business & Law campus on the old Sorting office site. That'll help with the likely future redevelopment of the whole Feeder Road area and the St Phillips Marsh area too once the City Council allocates sites for development in the local plan. It's on the horizon.

    I also understand there are plans afoot to buy back the old GW terminus shed from the city council (lease or freehold I'm not sure) and they're looking at future plans as the power box is coming down anyway.

    I used a scalpel with 10a blade and just kept cutting and pushing until the glue give way. It is quite well fixed but you could see the glue seal breaking.

  10. Went up for the weekend and spent most of the time behind the member's sales stand.

    The 450 mile return trip from Somerset was worth the effort though. The show was busier than last year and there was a noticeable buzz. Yes, some things need tweaking for next year and I'm sure the organising committee will review all the comments on here as well as those made directly. I came away feeling I'd made some new friends and had a great time. The 'best gig/worst gig you've ever been to' conversation in the pub was very revealing...

    I'd like to thank everybody involved for a really enjoyable weekend. I even managed to look at the layouts!

    There were some conversions of the W4 Peckett to EM that were mentioned in this forum shortly after it was released so I suspect that the B2 being somewhat similar would also be convertible. Gordon Ashton AKA Steamraiser, of this Parish, has done an etched chassis for those wishing to build a W2 with a compensated front axle in EM or P4. 

    Perhaps someone might do the same for the B2, it would depend on demand.

    I’ve got one of Gordon’s chassis for the w4 which I’ll do in P4 at some point. I’d like to see if Hornby have used the same slidebar arrangement on the b2 as that caused a bit of an issue for converting the w4, hence Gordon’s chassis.

    I quite fancy doing one in EM for a little inglenook style layout once the new rtr points are out!
