I know that some of the rebuilt walls in the floating harbour have iron tie rods extending horizontally 12-15ft back into the bank/ground behind. Might make a nice feature !
-
Very nice. It's good to see you modelling again!
I get a lot of satisfaction these days by refurbishing older models that I'd previously built or acquired from others.
Case in point being half a dozen wagons from Ratio, Cambrian and Coopercraft I picked up for a quid each at our local EM group on Thursday.

Very nice indeed. I especially like the colour and weathering on the layout and stock.
Is the layout portable?

Thanks for all the replies folks.
The kit has a nickel silver deck sitting on a white metal frame (solebar and headstocks) supported on white metal w irons.
There was a piece of ABS LNWR buffer packaging in the bag (albeit with the seller's details on it) so the white metal buffers may be from this source, though that could be a coincidence.
I'll be able to get some P4 wheels and will either try the Ambis compensation units or see if I can modify some Bill Bedford sprung units
-
2'8 1/2" wheels should fit though I've yet to work out how I'll add a degree of springing or compensation in P4.
The kit does have a representation of the plates in the deck to get over the restricted wheel clearance.
I wonder when they were scrapped?

There is a D333 wagon in Bob Essery's Midland Wagons vol.2 under "Traction Wagons" pp 53-55
Looks the part.
Keith
It looks like a MR wagon to me. The large rectangular number plate on the solebar is typical. The buffers look Midland too. I'll have a look in my copy of Midland Wagons Vol. 2.
I've had a look through the book and agree it looks like a traction wagon, either diag D333 or D730.
Thanks for all the replies.

Old Elms RoadWhat layout won the public vote in the end?
Thanks Paul
And St Ruth was a close second

I've always liked the balance of colour you achieve Geoff. Great stuff!

Looks very nice. I'll certainly be interested as and when you make them available.

I was hoping to go originally but I got a really heavy cold and coughed so much I gave myself a hernia in the process, after which I decided to spend the past 4 days in bed. As to purchases, well I had to buy a new Mac as my old one packed in this week. So that's quite enough spending for the rest of the year.
But hopefully will still be going to Manchester next weekend as I'm helping operate a layout up there.

Worth it though. Gert lush as they say down our way!

All set up and ready for tomorrow. See you there!

Hope to see some of you on Sunday.
I'm really looking forward to the show.
Do come and say hello.

Whereabouts in Wells is it?
Good point!
It's at Wells Town Hall in the market square. Same venue as Railwells.

4mm Modellers Workshop
Saturday 4th November 2017Wells Town Hall
10.30 am - 4.30pm
Admission: Visitors £5 - EMGS Members FREEThis event is organised by the North West Somerset Group of the EM Gauge Society, for modellers of all abilities, as part of the EM Gauge Society Members Day and AGM. The EM Gauge Society’s AGM will be held in a separate room, at 2.0pm so will not impinge on the workshop. Come and learn, chat and socialize with fellow modellers.
The aim of this 4mm Modeller’s Day is to encourage all modellers (be they 4mm of any gauge or other scales) to come and spent a pleasant day watching, talking and doing the things that make model railways such a wonderful hobby. The demonstrators will be very happy to discuss any problems you may have and, depending on the problem, give you hands on experience in sorting the problem out. Alternatively you may wish to discuss the pro’s and con’s of various gauges and if you have any rolling stock give them a run on the test track.
At no time will there be anyone telling you that you are in the wrong scale or gauge.
With the trade attendance here you should be able to stock up on essentials before the next exhibition.Demonstrators

Good journey back. Managed to break the 3 hour barrier (just). Great show. Really enjoyed it.
Well done to Derek for putting on another superb expo. You can take a well earned rest. Step forward Mr Jones!
As promised, some more pictures. Apologies for missing some layout out.
The presentation of Tackeroo was something that made a lot of people smile. Very clever.
