  1. Circular place not far from me? Andi
  2. Song Of The Third Cause - Blyth Power
  3. The coupling would be useful if sold separately, I prefer having such devices on the coaches as then they are only needed on very few vehicles. That said I don't tend to use tension locks so have built my own auto uncoupling units into various coaches over the years. Andi
  4. Add an 86 and you have pretty much all the main line power needed for East Anglia in the 80s Andi
  5. That photo of Ancaster road is really helpful as it shows the bridge in far earlier condition than any of my photos but also shows the staff carpark entrance as I remember it and as it needs to be on the layout. Andi
  6. If I put a bus UNDER Ancaster Road bridge is that a negative cliche? If I then put on on top of the London Road bridge will they cancel each other out? Seriously though the bus pictures are really useful for what should be on the layout, but are any of them available RTR as such? Buses are not my area of knowledge at all. Andi

Jessica stretched out on the radiator. It isn’t even on! And sharing the tower with Jareth Andi
  8. Ah damn, that may be a problem as that's exactly what I need them for. How many coaches can they move on level track? Andi
  9. That they simply aren't available as a current release in blue. Andi
  10. That's wrong on so many levels! Andi

  12. The 03 would be a very welcome rerelease for me, I need three of them for Ipswich. As long as Bachmann don't announce that AND a rerun of the freightliner flats, that would see me bankrupt! Andi

  14. One of the things of modelling a real place is that you don’t have to spend hours trying to decide what would look right in a particular location, “how would the real railway do that?” and trying to come up with back stories for why you’ve done things in the way you have. Instead you just look at the pictures and recreate what you see. As an example, Ancaster Road bridge has four different wing walls, one is curved, one has no top (I presume due to some past incident, what’s the back story there?) and one is at a very different angle and much longer. If you built that on a freelance layout you’d never think it was feasible. Anyway here is the other side of the bridge with its wing walls now in place. None of the parapets are built yet as they would be quite vulnerable to damage this early in the build. Compare to the last photo in the previous post. And here is a link to the real thing in Google street view https://maps.app.goo.gl/f25qRnaxnfj2V3Vt9?g_st=i Andi
  15. Very VERY fine wet & dry paper will polish the railhead to better than new condition. Andi
  16. Ballasting is continuing along with track painting and platform foundations. I’m up to board five now, 1 to 3 are fully ballasted, 4 has its platform edges and all track painted and five is having its track painted now. Other things I am doing is filling in the lower areas on boards 4 to 7 where the track bed is on an embankment over Ancaster Road. The infill is 4mm plywood as I had a load of it, then the offcuts of the Google Earth print are being fixed to them too so I can get roads etc. accurately positioned. The latest work is starting on the embankment itself, chicken wire and papier-mâché being my preferred method. platform edges, nearest the camera is the parcel bay Boards 2&3. Jessica has to assist Board 5. Track painting and infill board sections Print added and then chicken wire papier-mâché first layer Ancaster Road bridge. The vari-girder sections are the side of platform 2 Andi
  17. The point above the coal drops really ought to be a slip to act as a trap point otherwise you can't use the siding at the other end of the run-round loop. Andi
  18. Ouch! Just had the pin of a drawing pin come through the top of the pin head into my thumb ☹️
