Accuracy or aesthetically pleasing?

I love the idea, I just don't know if I have the inclination with 60ft of layout to detail! Andi -
Abbotswood and Norton Junctions - layout build

That's my plan with the Ipswich boards too, a "skateboard" with castors to take a pair of boards, a top to match to keep them apart and sides to prevent anything getting in and destroying the overhead. Ravensclyffe has individual flightcases for each board that have the castors built in and fully enclose the boards. Andi -

Accuracy or aesthetically pleasing?

I like the idea of adding a fillet on the side of the layout to support the full terrace. It would be a lot easier to model the houses that way. The plan is that there will be a two foot walkway either side of the layout for the operators so that fillet shouldn’t get in the way if it is shaped to the line of the house fronts or the road edge. There is no back edge, the layout is viewable from both sides. Andi -

One part of my Ipswich layout has a terrace of houses which are slightly angled to the edge of the baseboard. If built accurately to the prototype they will end up with part of the terrace half off the edge of the board. Should I build them in the right place with half houses or should I change the angle so that the whole terrace stays just on the baseboard? The photo shows the position of the terrace if I stick to prototype position Andi

Ipswich in OO - Station, stabling point and top yard in 1985

It's something I've been intrigued by too, all I can find is a reference from the Ipswich Society http://www.ipswichsociety.org.uk/newsletter/newsletter-october-2020-issue-223/ipswich-railway-stations-part-2 I guess I've got you to thank for some of the points I've had to build for the layout then? I particularly like the straight run of points leaving P2 heading down and across to the Up main. Where the Up and Down main lines curve there is a very visible straight section across the points along the Lowestoft. You can see it clearly here from P3 I have used the correct point numbers for all the powered points in the scenic part of the layout :) Andi -
The print and label type is identical to those from Cheltenham Model Centre. Their labels are of various different colours, currently mostly white or yellow but the bright orange may have been used in the past. Andi

Boards 6&7 The line that goes to the lower yard and the docks can be seen with the start of construction of Ranelagh Road level crossing right at the edge of the board. What do you do with a line that goes off the side of the layout? Watch this space…. Andi- 166 replies

Thirty years ago the comment was "oh, Diesels" and off they'd go looking for the next GWR branch line terminus. We seem to have moved on from that (mostly) so hopefully non-UK prototypes will become more accepted over time. Andi -
Need help identifying this

With the capacitor* on the track connection it has to be DC so I would expect just about any 12volt DC controller will work for it. It's definitely not Hornby though. Does it have a make under either of the locos? *The square grey component Andi
