  1. I can see several flat areas upon which you appear not to have placed modelling related stuff. Poor show, try harder next time
  2. Bistro - it's a bit like a bar but serving something called 'wine'. Oh, and instead of pork scratchins they have 'olives'.
  3. Thanks Darren, doors were open last Wednesday. Was down in the area and suddenly realised that the road i was driving on was going along the back of St Blazey shed - looked right and there was this pub!
  4. Thought I had too many spams... then i met TBG!

  5. Is that the Captain's sea chest in the centre of the track circle????
  6. For inspiration also have a look at the approach to Tamworth low level from the Stafford direction.....
  7. I like this idea and Ring Road - mainly because they are the railway running through a typical slice of 'modern' Britain. Bits of the old railway, bits of new, all wrapped in scenes we take for granted. PS i generally despair at modern image layouts due to the lack of imagination typically shown by the builders... straight track on flat boards running parallel to the layout front or a minimum space TMD - how many like this have we all seen? So on that basis - very well done!
  8. It's like a mini SRC on here! Good to see you Geoff.

  9. Thanks Jim Spent a fair while on the modelex stand with ruler and photos trying to match size / appearance. I can either get the style but not the size or size and not the style! Just in case i've missed something i've just sent an email to Brassmasters with my photos / dimensions asking if they have anything suitable. Will also try PPD. Do you draw the artwork up for them or do they do it?
  10. Never ceases to amaze me how much stuff we take with us on tour with Treneglos too. Took extra on the trip to France as it was a long way home to fetch spares etc - oh and for some reason the van was heavier on the return on that trip.....
  11. Building model buildings.... the hardest part has to be finding the windows for them. Once you start to look you realise there is no such thing as a standard style or even standard sizes. A friend from Stafford club once gave me some sound advice... don't start building a building until you have the windows. Foolishly i put my hand up to help a fellow modeller create some buildings for his St Blazey layout. I also said that I'd size all the windows from the photos he'd taken and either find them RTR in brass or find someone who can etch them up. So far none of the windows seems to be commercially produced RTR and four etchers have either turned down the work or given very, very long delivery times. What to do?? Photos and dimensions are in this file: windows.doc Just checked the Scalelink products too - nothing close. And Muswell Models And PPD in Scotland as suggested by Jim S-W and will drop them a line to get a quote. And Brassmasters do a selection for the Scalescenes range of buildings. Sent a note yesterday and got a very swift reply saying the didn't do custom etches to order. And Langley models but the images are so bad I can't tell what the frets contain And Bill Bedford has loads but.....25 pages of catalogue with two that are close... but then there's the 2-3 month wait. Interesting that he does a fret for the Padstow goods shed windows though. Turning to plastic (not my first choice but), there's a good selection here at Grandt The bespoke service from York Model Making looks interesting and so i've sent them my window photos doc (see link above) and asked for a quote.
  12. Thanks Andy - i'd like to think the use of features was intentional but i suspect it may have been the result of random button pressing...
  13. until
The next SRC ANNUAL EXHIBITION: 6th & 7th February 2010 Will be held at: The Stafford County Showground, Weston Road, Stafford, ST18 0BD. For more details click here
  14. Starting to really like the new forum, especially now I'm remembering where i left stuff! Anyway, i've taken full advantage of the new gallery feature and have added some photos back from 2003 when we built the first 4 boards of Treneglos in a year. Some good photos of the boards as they arrived from Damian. Some more of the initial rough scenery in glorious technicolour match pots! A few of the cutting extension and the making of the rock face. I know i have more so I'll keep adding them as i find them. Put it on slide show and you can build a layout in a few minutes!
  15. Looks like my style of layout planning - big paper, big black pen!
  16. Not sure how he's done it but i think he's turned me to EM.... A spam-can will look nice on his layout!

  17. Once seen without a Southern loco nearby - only for a second though....

  18. Nice chap - inhabits a strange parallel universe though! 'hoist up the mainsail, steady as she goes...'
