What is it about the Company that both you and my SWMBO work for, she doesn't like Mondays either. But then she doesn't like Tuesdays or Wednesdays and the rest of the week is pretty poor aswell.

Now as it happens Dave I'm having a particularly fruitful day so its a good Monday! Still a pain missing that half hours kip though, may just fall asleep on the computer screens this afternoon.

  5. WMD to most people means a Weapon of Mass destruction. In this house its a Wet Muddy Dog. No difference really I suppose.

  7. A Duchess has been obtained at last. Looking forward to this EM conversion.

Surely you'll need to convert it to P4 for the new layout Andy, I'll see if I can find a photo of one at North Ballahulish.... Eh, nop...

The problem would be the axle weight load limit on the Bridge Dave. So to EM it goes for an occaisional thrash round New Hey and on Glaisden running the "special"

    3. davefrk

      davefrk

Okay, and I might let you gently trundle it round Wharfeside in 2014, if it's finished then. The layout not the loco....

  8. New Hey set up at the Holmfirth show, looking forward to playing trains tomorrow.

  9. A whole bunch of them? So its a privvy council. Yep, I'll get me coat....
  10. Well done on the first article - just wait for one of the big boys to come knocking to get it into print now - and they pay!
  11. Its the end result that counts Jeff, try to get it right first time round saves a lot of frustration and loss of mojo later. Been there and got the T shirt - many times over. And if we can't have a laugh with our modelling then it really seriously is time to go and see a trick cyclist
  12. And its off to Oslo tomorrow.

  13. If you really want to become a burbling wreck do what i did after the track is laid (well at least on some) cut the web away AFTER the glue has dried on the laid SMP. Seriously though whilst the words ball and ache come to mind, it does make ballasting easier later on.
  14. Just to illustrate (I know its been seen before but its a good example). The cess and the ash ballast are silver sand - its put in a box and sprayed with matt black car primer,, it slowly turns brown and then to black after a bit so you can mix to all sorts of shades which gives you plenty of tonal variation. The mainline ballast is Woodland Scenics N gauge limestone - Dont touch the 4mm ballasts with a barge pole, they are overscale and can look ridiculous! Cheers Andy
  15. Jeff Get a bag of silver sand from your local DIY superemporium type place. Its a lot safer and more stable than using sand the beach, particularly from an area where you are likley to find a cocklepicker in it. Seriously sea sand contains all sorts of shite things including shell which if you are going to paint the ballast doesnt take well. Silver sand is a lot finer, more homogenous and takes paintb like a good un - all my cess ballast and ash ballast on New Hey was done using it. Its very very easy to use.
  16. I think you deserve a beer or 30 after putting all that lot in.Have you put the Plastiglaze in first or constructing the frames in the window aperture wihtout support?, its not clear in the close up pics. Another method of doing it - used it a few times before - is to cut the actual window panes out of a sheet of ten thou, sort of doing it the wrong way round! It can be a lot easier if you are doing volume frames (but not as easy as an etc lol !!)
  17. Sat in the Centurion on Newcastle Central with a pint of Jarrow Rivet Catcher.

      dagrizz

Ah, so the 'pint' of JRC might explain your penultimate post in the 'exhibitions' section.

Funilly enough it was posted in the Centurion off my android

  18. Saw this in Singapore and did a double take before it really registered. It would never happen here!
  19. What, the droplights? or the motive power / stock? HTH!
  20. Jason quite a lot of the Wakes / holiday specials ran non corridor stock, and were hauled by a real hotch potch of locos, basically anything goes that was available at the time it was needed. Just make sure your Pat is correct for a North Manchester or at a pinch other ex L and Y NW shed. I was going to do 45539 EC Trench for the Wakes double header for New Hey but the nameplates for said never materialised despite promises, so Bank Halls unamed 45517, a regular performer in the Oldham Rochdale area sufficed. Have a look in the Foxline Rochdale books and you will see many an excuse for running a namer or a big loco (try a 9f or a Brit for example) hauling a Wakes special! Bacup would be no exception to the holiday trade but its likely they would be feeders so a few coaches may just be the ticket! Ive got to say I feel for the poor unfortunates who went to Blackpool in NCS especialy those who had a beer or two before going. It was even worse coming home apparently!! Anyone for the droplights?
  21. Cream crackered! Glad I booked the day off.

  22. Very impressive so far on the mill Jason, but all those window frames to do - an etch maybe?
  23. Bring a Hunslet 16" with you this weekend please Mike, Ive resolved to spend very little at the show apart from that one thing!! Been threatening to buy since I saw it at Scalefour North, but now is the time.
  24. Off to play with Mr Worthingtons train set tonight.

    1. Porcy Mane

      Porcy Mane

Keep an eye out for his pussycat & Mr Pataks Bentley...

  25. Not Bacup Jason, but the Bacup Branch. I have just acquired some photos from Richard Greenwood (and taken by him), of Wardleworth Station in the early mid 60s Unfortunately I can't post them here as they are purely for my personal use, but they show a very very modelable site and have got thoughts of a collaborative effort going - I still have Spotland Bridge's baseboard frames in the loft! Some interesting train formations Ivatt 2-6-0s, Black 5, WD and an 08 mainly with 16Ts - scrap traffic into the old goods yard as well as coal. Worth thinking about when you get round to playing trains!
