  1. Kind of you to say that - which particular layout - purely as a matter of interest, you understand?
  2. I'd just like to say a heartfelt "thank you" to all you guys who posted pictures of the event, for us long-way-away people who couldn't attend. It is really nice to see the "scenicifying" of the boards that has been taking place as the years go by - and the very useful pics of buildings - it gives me lots of ideas for background buildings on my layout attempts - much appreciation for your efforts.
  3. There is a collection of photos also at https://ukrailwaypics.smugmug.com/ModelRailroading-1/2018-09-21/
  4. I saw the same thing yesterday morning on one up here in the Far North, and had the same thought!
  5. When you watch them running away from a dog, "Hurtle " seems a very apt word to describe the group!
  6. But BarryOs parcel is not to me! Here it is grey, damp, and generally "dreich" but very little wind - don't worry - we shall probably get our share later - we usually do - but ours comes the opposite way - through the Sutors from the east and brings us white stuff from the continent , Russia and Siberia!
  7. Art - for all you ever wanted to know about inglenooks - http://wymann.info/ShuntingPuzzles/shunting-puzzles.html
  8. WOW - Now THAT is a different looking loco! - Very nice! Almost a shame I only do freight!
  9. Rob - TBH I haven't looked at the others - but if you look at the individual motors, there is very often a photo in the listing that gives dimensions - hope that helps Jack
  10. I did say "MAY" - I would consider that anyone who thought it might be useful , would be capable of adjusting the final drive to suit their requirements

  12. I have one of those - excellent device + a spare key hidden somewhere in the garden - We hold a next-door key too
  13. Part of the problem is that it is very easy to get into your car in a well-lit area...... eg a Supermarket car park, and drive off - not realising that your lights aren't on because of the brightness of the outside area - despite the illuminated dash panel - and only realising that you are driving without lights when the external illumination drops - and Yes - it HAS happened to me! My current Kia puts the lights on automatically.
  14. Got up earlier than usual this morning and took the new Kia into Inverness for reversing sensors to be fitted - I've previously had two cars withy them and it is astonishing how you miss them when they aren't there - I must admit that I didn't realise they weren't there when I test-drove it - never had reason to try reverse _ Dropped it off at 0901 and was told four hours so I went and sat in a cafeteria and read my book while drinking tea - Was getting some odd looks so left at just before 1200 and went back to sit in the workshop reception - to find the car done and awaiting me! Have to say they made a damn good job and I will use them again. Everything was totally straight forward and no problem. Celebrated with Fish & Chips for lunch - YUM!
  15. I think Alan has been away and is probably catching up on back orders - I had my shunters yesterday
  16. I believe the expression regarding "crunchy" peanut butter when I was a kid, was " something squeezed out of a dog!" Disgusting stuff!! - but I love broad beans!!! - although I totally do NOT understand why the cheffie people insist on taking the outsides off them - It's like peeling tomatoes - another aberration!
  17. Sorry to come in late on this post - I have only just found it - but another posting on "Reversed Inglenook" (this version is completely "pointless") is here http://rmweb.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=29306&start=0&hilit=ingleferry+wharf and a later comment is here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/112913-ingleferry-wharf-went-to-a-further-exhibition/.....and an alternative "Minimum space" inglenook is here(borrowed from Carls site) This photo was taken from the traverser end under the bridge
  18. .....and if you don't - that is the wurst place to go!
  19. Ian - You may find it worth while to order their catalogue - an INCREDIBLE range of stuff, and in my opinion, very good value - Mine came at the beginning of the month - I got it via ebay from here and would recommend their service
  20. Yesterday afternoon my next-door neighbour gave me a couple of paving slabs for my incinerator to stand on - I moved them a bit later, and was astonished to see a tiny brown frog, about an inch long, sat on one of them. I showed it to SWMBO, but by the time I had sorted out the camera it had disappeared. No idea what sort it was and I have never seen one before in the quarter century+ we have lived here - though away back we did have a toad in the back garden.
  21. Sorry - I'm obviously teaching Granny to suck eggs!
  22. So today was rather expensive - car swap day - I now have exactly the same car (Kia Picanto) but it is Black instead of Cream, has 5 doors instead of 3, is 17 plated but has been a demo car for the dealer, and has a genuine 1039 miles on it - and saved me a large sum of money. Unfortunately SWMBO had to have a shopping experience afterwards! So it goes!
  23. The last time I was in Andover would have been about 1952/3, when my dad was stationed at Middle Wallop. I really only remember it as having a permanently dug-up High Street - the leccy board would dig it up - do their job and put it all back - Two days later it was the water boards turn - rinse and repeat. two days later - the Gas main needed dealing with -so up it all came again - the following week it was the turn of GPO telephones and sure enough, the next week the Council had their turn - followed very closely by the Leccy board with a major problem .......and so it went on! It may well have been the inspiration for Flanders & Swanns little ditty..........
  24. Chaz - so you don't get a "lump" where the flap is, try cutting the flap off and use tape on the underside to fix it edge to edge - then run milliput down to seal any gape at the join
