  1. Finely crafted weathering there pal, studying prototype photo's is certainly a must! Looking forward to bringing over the 37 and posing it with the engineers rake..
  2. It never ceases to amaze me, the rate of your progress Neil!. Have to say though, I'm very impressed and look forward to seeing it in the flesh so too speak!
  3. Thanks James, I've learnt a lot of techniques and method's over the past couple of year's which I'm enjoying applying practically. I'm now considering fabricating the absent pipe work around the bogies.
  4. I trust everybody enjoyed the Members Day, it was a great occasion where we could all come together as one forum; personal thanks must go out to Andy and all of the team for the planning and operation. It was truly superb! Having come away with a lighter wallet and an incentive to make some more progress with the 37, I have spent some time carrying out further weathering and detailing to this locomotive during the course of the day. I have used a slightly different method with this model, but I feel that it has worked well and the results are pleasing. Mixing together SM371 & Matt 66 with a drop of varnish created a subtle tone in which the level of fade was acceptable. The roof was tackled slightly differently, with a hint of grey added in to the mix. Having allowed this to dry, I added MIG 'Black Smoke' to the areas which I felt would be gathered. Here are some photo's; If I'm honest, I'm pleased with how this model has turned out; combining all of the experience and advice I have learnt from forum members. There is still some extra detailing to be carried out.
  5. Having had a few month's of solid coursework in the lead up to finishing secondary education, its been refreshing to pick up a few modelling projects to complete over the summer break. I've returned to my previous efforts in detailing and weathering this 37; coupled with a fresh set of tools and idea's in order to enhance it further. I apologise in advance for the poor quality photo, it was only taken on my Blackberry!. I'm planning to compile a short evaluation of the work carried out and a selection of better quality photos soon Hope to see you all at the Members Day. Wash of Humbrol Matt White to dull down the factory finish.
  6. Have not posted in here for a while, but have been trawling through the archives..

  8. It's part of a swap, I'm sure I'll bring it over with me. May need a decoder first though.
  9. Great work on the skip Neil, look's a nice kit- I'm tempted in a purchase!. Talking of NSE Duff's, I may have one on the way..
  10. Photo's look really good Neil, especially the one with the 09 and RES GUV. Finished school now, so should be over very soon!.
  11. There's good on-going development here, the small details are great and give a real sense of realism.
  12. Great progress here Neil, echoing all the previous comments;56049 looks a treat on Deeping Lane. Should have that 'Bodysnatcher' sorted for you soon.
  13. Thanks James. Studying photo's really helps, although I now need to get the slitting disc out and re-mount the side frames higher.
  14. Further to my entry yesterday, I have taken time today to study a selection of photos and begin the weathering of the chassis on 37429. ; - http://www.flickr.co...07/2993101948/. Matt 33 & 98 were used foremost with tonal variation being created, trying to bring out the detail. After this had dried, a thin wash of Frame Dirt was applied and left to dry. With the aid of photo's, I used Europe Dust and Black Smoke to stipple and create the rusting and general weathering on the bogie side frames. There is still a way to go with this, but I'm happy for the moment.
  15. I'll be sure to carry that out on the horns, I ordered a set of small drill bit's earlier in the week. The photo's I have studied of the loco, show that it did not operate with snowploughs; certainly in it's latter days.
  16. It seems to have been a while since I last posted an entry here, fortunately the christmas break has allowed me to make progress with a few projects. Over the past few day's I have started on a model of 37429 in Regional Railways livery, utilising one of the earlier body-shell's on a slightly newer chassis. Having detailed the No 1 end, I am now turning to the small specific details which the locomotive holds and the basis of weathering / grime established using photos. For the vacuum and air pipes I have used items from the Craftsman range. The MU cable is standard Bachmann; filled to give a more rounded curvature. Hornby 31 buffers have also been fitted, I feel that they are more bulky and realistic than the standard offering. Trawling through fotopic has shown many photos of this particular 37/4 in service, this has highlighted some added features which will need to be added to the model ( Lamp bracket position etc). I'm also going to replicate the pipe work around the chassis. The next stage is to begin to weather the chassis, I'm also hoping to take some photo's outside.
  17. Interesting new project here James, a lot of new avenues to come across and tackle but I'm sure it will be no problem. Look forward to the continuing development.
  18. would like to wish each and every RMweb member a Happy Christmas :) .

Did forgot about that one if I'm honest!- glad is fulfilling its full potential :)

  20. Thanks James, would that just be brush painted on in a light coat? Still a couple more things to tackle on this one, lowering the body is a must after looking at these photos! When time permits, I will look at replicating the pipework along the underframe. Will endevour to take some photos of Stockwell Road tomorrow when the sun is hopefully shining, quite for posperity now the layout is up for sale. Chris
  21. Not sure this is up to some of the excellent standards contributed by other folks on here, but here's my shot.
  22. In between other projects, I've been tinkering with this loco. Still not finished as of yet, but should be complete very soon. While the sun has been out all day and Stockwell Road set up,I took the time to take some photos of the loco posed on the layout. Further updates when I've finished the Crompton.
  23. Absolutley fantastic work here Alex, the amount of detail you'll be able to pack in will be immense. Thumbs up!
  24. finds time to do some modelling, but ends up tidying up to actually do it!

  25. Really like the look of this layout, particularly the maitenance shed. Is it scratchbuilt?
