  1. Progress has been slow of late due to work and other commitments. But here's a photo of the track weathering I've been doing today - for now it's Railmatch Sleeper Grime. I'll add more shades in due course.
  2. Some further progress today, filling in the gaps with spare sleepers. Not the most interesting of jobs, but needs to be done. Painting the rail sides next..
  3. Thanks Melly, I may change the shed in due course to suit the prototype better.
  4. Thanks Ian, the fish plates look great but are rather difficult to use! Going to take my time with the scenics.
  5. Thanks Mal, I've always admired your work.
  6. I've recently started a new project which attempts to depict a fictional wagon repair depot with small fuelling point. Plenty of inspiration has been drawn from Tees Yard WRD and I'll be using this as a base for adding further details later down the line. I decided to bite the bullet and try out the new Peco Bullhead range of track and points and so far I've been very impressed - it certainly looks the part. Progress so far has seen the track laid on to a cork base and lightly pinned down. I've also added the dropper wires and now have power. I've been testing the layout to ensure the track work is all fine and so far everything has been okay. Over the next few weeks I intend to add a backscene - probably the new self adhesive range from ID backscene and attempt to look at weathering the track. The layout is DCC controlled and is set in the 90's to the early 2000's. Any comments whether positive or negative are welcome.
  7. Interesting that you've done that - have you still got a Hattons 66 on order? To be fair the Bachmann 66 still isn't bad with a little detailing.
  8. I suppose it's comforting to know that the 158's are on there way at last - roll on Q4.
  9. Not sure we need more liveries just yet, let's get the model out first.
  10. Not sure on the 58 as the Heljan model is very good in most respects. Plenty more livery variations to tackle yet.
  11. I've not posted on here for a very long time, we all know what life is like - it gets busy and modelling slowly slips down the list of priorities. I thought I would share something I've been working on this afternoon - it's a Lima 60 in the attractive BS Blue livery which I picked up on eBay a while ago. So far I've added a driver and second man, picking out there orange hi-vis, added bufferbeam detail and started weathering the underframe although this is still WIP. There's a still a lot to do, weather the bodyside, pick out the exhaust in a rust colour and some other detailing that I'll add later on. I'm not going to replace the grills or re-do the glazing on this model but hope the end result will come out good. The Hornby 60 is without doubt a much better model, but I still believe that the Lima 60 can still scrub up well.

  13. There is always modellers license with this Tim, in that you can run anything you want as it's your layout. Freightliner 57's were predominantly allocated to intermodal traffic. The RF 20 would be a better fit I think, along with the 47.
  14. As many have said already, I think Hornby are missing out by not releasing more livery variants of the 56 and 60 in particular. Re-runs of the Loadhaul and Mainline Blue would certainly go down well and might mean that they stop going for stupid prices on a well known auction site.
  15. You could try somewhere like Fox Transfers - https://fox-transfers.co.uk/transfers?model_product=1181&scale=2235&transfer_company=2298&transfer_model_type=2169&transfer_period=2257
  16. Really impressed with your work here, fantastic progress.
  17. Fantastic modelling here Nick. I particularly like the way you have created a lot of depth to the backscene with the trees and lineside fencing. Lovely stock too!
  18. It's been a number of years since my last blog entry, but with some nenewed inspiration I've started to work on a few outstanding projects. Here we have 37702 from the Rail Exclusive twin pack. I've detailed the front ends and started weathering the chassis and body, happy with progress so far.
  19. Excellent progress here so far, looking forward to furthwr updates.
  20. I've been watching the thread for a while now and have always been impressed with the work you've completed. Looking forward to further updates.
  21. Excellent work Marcus, I really like the way you have added the wood and blends in really well with everything else.
  22. Morning ER's, a wet and windy start to this morning up here in the north. Not up to much today, moving forwards with the Uni work one can hope! Have a good day. Chris
