Accurascale Class 55 Deltic - 4mm scale
Chris56057 replied to Andy Y's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
You'll need to sign up for the waiting list emails on the Accurascale website. There's a box (or at least there was) under each model to do this. https://www.accurascale.com/collections/class-55-deltic/products/9016-gordon-highlander -
Accurascale Class 55 Deltic - 4mm scale
Chris56057 replied to Andy Y's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
They'll turn up when they turn up, just be patient - its only a model train after all 😴 However, still holding out for a Porterbrook one.. -
Where is this Facebook post, just had a look and can't find anything?

Accurascale Class 55 Deltic - 4mm scale

Back on topic.. Here in hope that one of the purple ones becomes available! -
Progress on the layout has been quite slow of late. I find with work and other things I often lack motivation to get on with stuff, however I've managed to spend a few hours this afternoon working on the platform. I've used an acrylic asphalt textured paint to do the tops and then roof dirt for the coping stones. Plenty of weathering to do on this in time.

It's a limited run and therefore clearly only a select number are going to be able to purchase it in that time frame, that's just the way it is. In regards to the comment about stuffing and mounting the models because of their limited edition nature - I'm already researching on how I'm going to weather these - in my opinion there to be used and run - not put in a display cabinet!

Thanks for the update and just to say in relation to keeping up, I don't spend all my day reading RMWeb - hence the original comment/question.

Where have you got that number for 5 more diesels that we don't know about?

Chris's Workbench - 1990's Diesel and Electric
Chris56057 replied to Chris56057's topic in Modifying & Detailing RTR stock
Quick phone pic of 56036 going through the works with transfers by Railtec, superb as always. I'm modelling 36 before the cantrail grilles were modified by EWS, so it will be in 1996 condition. -

60091 An Teallach after initial detailing and weathering, along with adding a driver from ModelU and other cab details. Airbrush weathering next provided the weather stays decent. -

In and amongst hoping for good weather to get the 56 in the last post on to the painting stage, I've been catching up on some existing projects. I picked up this DRS 20 from the Doncaster Show a few months ago now and have set about changing its identity to 20308 which matches up to where the side logos should be. So far I've removed the numbers, fitted the pipework to the bufferbeams and the chassis has had an initial coat of Railmatch weathered black. From here I'll move on to the airbrush weathering stage and get the new numbers on. -
James Makin's Workbench - 1990s dirty diesels & grotty wagons
Chris56057 replied to James Makin's topic in Layout topics
Absolutely superb work James, you've captured the look of these fine machines well. Some would argue that the Hornby model deserves a re-tool, however I would say it still stands up to weathering and detailing, capturing the bulk and character of the prototypes well. Looking forward to seeing more soon. -
Building another O gauge micro layout and weathering stock
Chris56057 replied to Nick G's topic in 7mm+ modelling
The faded 08 looks lovely Nick, certainly a job well done. I'm tempted to have a look at O gauge myself, being suitably impressed with the level of detail and competitive prices on offer. -

Hi Nick, You are correct in your comments. On this one it's a compromise I'm don't mind having as I'm still very much a novice with adding these detailing parts - I've got another 56 to do which I hope I'll have more confidence with! -

Project 56066 continues. I'm going to honest. This is probably the most intricate modelling I've done in a long time. Fitting these parts requires care and patience and whilst not 100% perfect, I'm happy with the results. Perhaps once I've got some primer and colour on it will look less raw. -
Suitable Airbrush Set
Chris56057 replied to Torbay Express's topic in Weathering, Painting & Transfers
It depends what your budget is, although you can find plenty of complete airbrush and compressor kits on Amazon and eBay which do the job just fine. I would use the search function here on the forum, there is plenty of existing threads with lots of advice. -
I thought it was about time I started a workbench thread in this section of the forum to record some of the projects I'm working on. First up is this Hornby 56 which has had some Shawplan etches added from Brian's superb range of parts. This is the first time I've gone down this route of detailing, however I've enjoyed the process and can see that the extra effort will produce good results. This Grid will eventually become 56066 in Triple Grey Transrail livery. Next step will be to get some primer on and move though the next steps

It's been a while since the last update, however work has been carrying on behind the scenes. The layout has been completely re-wired, this has been a big but worthwhile job and means everything should be more reliable, particularly at exhibitions. We've also added in relays to work in conjunction with the signals that have been installed on the layout. I'm hoping to do a short video on this in the future. At home, I've been working on the station and low relief warehouse buildings - these are coming along well and should be finished soon. Jobs to be completed over the next few months will include installing the remaining signals, adding the platform tops and getting the points set up - plenty to be getting on with! Thanks for reading.
